Spend some time researching which studios and classes will fit your schedule. Then, sign up for one or two. You should mark days you plan on spending in a studio on a calendar as to remind yourself and keep you motivated. Maybe the first one you try out will just click with you--the teacher, the vibes, the building is just the perfect match. If not, don't be afraid to branch out and try multiple places. Finding the right yoga teacher can make all the difference when you're trying something new. Comfort, motivation, and accessibility are key.

Yoga For Beginners

Perhaps you know absolutely nothing about yoga, and all of this information is just overwhelming you. It's O.K.! There are plenty of classes for beginners out there. Research your area and find a class that takes on newbies like yourself. Also, hop onto the internet and look up some yoga videos for beginners. You don't necessarily need to physically attend a class to take part in one. It's never too late to start building your knowledge on yoga!

Choose The Right Spot

Choosing a spot in your house to practice yoga sounds easy, but being more thoughtful about it can set you up for more success. You'll want to make sure that wherever you choose to practice, you have enough room to move and stretch around in. Also, choose a spot that will motivate you. Do you enjoy others in your household being able to see you? Does someone else's praise motivate you? If so, choose a spot with lots of traffic. However, if you need privacy, try picking a spot where someone is less likely to travel by so you can focus. Either way, the right spot can make all the difference in terms of motivating you every day.

Plan Time

Everybody always says that they'll start something new--it'll be easy. However, when push comes to shove, finding time can be one of the most difficult challenges to face. When we think it'll be easy to find the time, often times it's not. That's why it's important to look at your calendar and dedicate yourself to the practice. You should really start with somewhere around 30 minutes a day. It's even alright to start with less, even around 10 minutes or so. Committing time for yoga every day will make it easier to lengthen training sessions.

Make It A Habit

Aside from making it a habit to just do it every day, you should also make it a habit for which poses you want to focus on. Rather than experimenting with new poses and sequences every day (which is definitely one way to tackle yoga, if you're new), you should choose some sequences that you'll be able to memorize. By memorizing these poses, as well as the order you do them in, you'll be able to visualize yourself actually accomplishing a session easier and smoother, ultimately making it more of a reality.

Be Social

Yoga is a great activity to buddy up with. If you prefer to workout at home, you can still find someone that also enjoys yoga to vent with. You can bounce ideas off each other and just share the overall experience together. If you join a class, be sure to try and make friends with the community. You'll be able to stay in the loop with special classes, events, and news around your area. By making friends, you're continuing to build motivation for doing yoga. If you know others care about yoga, you might be more willing to continue committing as time goes on--it'll give you someone to look forward to.

Voice Yourself

Convince yourself that yoga is "your thing" by sharing it to everyone you know. Whether you're with friends or family, it's never a wrong time to talk about yoga. By continually sharing your experiences with others who don't know much about yoga you may even spark someone's interest. Once you hear yourself talking about it over and over again, you'll really make your mark with others as "the yoga person."
