2. Drama is constantly happening in your home

While arguments are normal for people who are living together, they don't need to happen on a daily basis. If people are always yelling and getting angry about the smallest things, you are probably living in a toxic home.

3. People ask you to lie about the bad things that happen at home

It is never normal to have to lie about the things that happen at home. If you feel like you are in a bad situation and you need to get some help, please tell others that will be able to help you get out of this toxic situation.

4. The people in your family control you with food and money

If you are on a small allowance that can be cut of easily if your parents or partner disagrees with you, this is a sign that they might be trying to control you. Also, if you are punished by having food withheld, this is a big issue, too.

5. You have no personal space or boundaries

A big problem with abusive parents is when they remove doors from bedrooms. This is an invasion of privacy that can leave you feeling like you have no personal space. You need to be able to have time and places where you can be alone.

6. You are constantly reminded of how lucky you are to be there

Even when you know things aren't going well, your parents or partner will remind you of how lucky you are to be in the same house as they are. While it is nice to have a place to sleep, it is never ok to be in a toxic house.

7. Fearing your safety is a regular thing

When you fear for your safety in your own home, you know that you are in an abusive relationship. It is important that you seek help quickly if you feel like your safety is an issue in your own home.
