7-Eleven Owner Gives Free Food To Teen After Catching Him Red Handed Shoplifting For Hungry Younger Brother

One 7-Eleven owner in Ohio decided jail and embarrassment was not the way he wanted to deal with a shoplifter. When the kind owner found a hungry teen shoplifting, he did not call the police. Instead, he gave the teen food.

Jitendra Singh was hard at work in the back office of the store he runs in Toledo. A clerk who worked for him alerted him to the fact a young man was pocketing products like candy and gum.

Singh took a quick look at the security cameras and saw the young man pocket the items. He approached the teenager while the young man stood at the counter waiting to pay for a few of the items he possessed.

Singh asked the teenager to empty both his pockets. The boy produced one item but Singh knew there was more. He told the young man he would call the police if he didn't produce the rest of the items.

Singh asked the young man why he was stealing. The teenager explained he was stealing snacks because he and his younger brother had nothing to eat.

The clerk who worked the counter was on the phone calling the police and Singh instructed her to put the phone down.

Singh turned to the young man and told him he needed real food to take home to his brother. The store owner told the young man to leave the snacks and choose food items from the store to take with him.

The store owner said he knew the teenager was not a common thief when the two of them began to talk. He was a young man with no food to eat. He did not think the teenager deserved to go to jail because he was hungry. The store owner said he also knew a criminal record would negatively affect the teenager's life in the future.
