Sanfilippo Syndrome

This rare disease, commonly referred to as Childhood Alzheimer’s, causes patients to slowly lose their motor controls. As a result, they can’t feed themselves, they have seizures, and they lose their short-term memory. Can you imagine that happening to you? To your child? Sanfilippo is caused by a missing enzyme in the brain. The enzyme removes toxic materials from the brain. Carter doesn’t have this enzyme, so his brain can’t get rid of waste products. They’re just pilling up inside his brain and gradually shutting it down.

There’s no cure for this horrible childhood disease. Patients don’t live to see their 20s as their brains slowly shut down. Eventually, patients can’t swallow or even breathe. Carter's sister doesn't want to watch this happen to her adorable baby brother.

There’s a way out of this horrible situation. Researchers at the Cure Sanfilippo Foundation are starting a trial. They want to try giving Carter and other patients with Sanfilippo a new enzyme. This might save their brains. Carter’s family is raising money to fund this research. They don’t have much time. Every day, more waste builds inside of Carter’s brain.

You can donate to the Go Fund Me to help save Carter’s life.

Can you help the Sarkar family? The more people who know about his situation, the more possibility there is to fund a cure, so please pass this information along to your friends and family!
