Catching the warning signs before a stroke can lessen the damage and your fatality risk, which is why learning the symptoms of what happens to your body before the stroke is critical.

When you have a stroke, one of two things happen in your brain. Either a vessel bleeds and hemorrhages, or it gets blocked and deprives your brain of oxygen. Both cases are extremely serious and can leave you seriously impaired for the rest of your life if you don't get immediate medical attention.

Here are 5 warning signs you're about to have a stroke. If you experience any of them, call 911 immediately.

1. Sudden Excruciating Headache

If you suffer from chronic migraines, you should be able to tell when a regular migraine is coming on and you have no reason to worry. However, if you experience sudden extreme pain, dizziness, or sensitivity to light, you may have a stroke coming.

Whether your brain is bleeding or blocked up, the pressure is building up in your skull with nowhere to go and the pain will be immense.

2. Trouble Focusing Or Understanding

If a vessel is blocked and your blood can't deliver oxygen throughout your brain, then your functions will suffer. Usually, the areas that get deprived are responsible for language and thoughts.

If you're having a hard time speaking a simple sentence or you can't understand what someone is saying to you, get immediate help.

3. Numbness In One Half Of Your Body

Your muscles also get deprived of blood during a stroke, which can lead to numbness or tingling on one side of your body or face. Losing control of your muscles or extreme dizziness are common warning signs of a stroke.

4. Vision Problems

Double vision or blurred vision, especially in only one eye, is another warning sign you can't ignore. Vision problems occur because of the blood loss or blockage impacting your optic nerves.

5. Sudden Fatigue

We all get tired, especially after a long day or intense workout, but the exhaustion felt before a stroke is different. Again, this exhaustion is brought on by the brain shutting down due to the short supply of oxygen. When your brain shuts down, the rest of your body shuts down, and you can't shake away the tiredness.

Make sure your loved ones know these symptoms to stay protected so they can lead a long happy life with you and form many more beautiful memories!
