17-Year-Old Soulfully Performs The Classic Song "Try A Little Tenderness," In AGT Audition

Daniel Joyner was just 17-years-old when he headed out on stage on the hit show "America’s Got Talent." Joyner comes from a small place in Alamo, Tennessee where his father is the minister for the town. His whole family headed to the show to cheer him on.
Joyner had always dreamed of becoming a professional singer. He knew that this audition could lead to a real career in the music industry, so he had practiced and practiced in order to make it a success. He decided to sing “Try A Little Tenderness,” a song that was first recorded by the Ray Noble Orchestra in 1932. The song became really famous in 1966 when Otis Redding released his own version of it. The song also became popular after millions heard it in two popular movies, "Pretty and Pink" and "Dr. Strangelove," according to Song Facts.

The young teen was nervous being on stage. You could tell that this was a big deal for him. However, he was able to calm down quickly. From then on, his performance was stellar. You won’t believe just how smooth and soulful his voice is until you hear it for yourself. The look on some of the judges’ faces when Joyner hit a big note said it all.
When the song ended, the applause from the audience was loud and long. The judges were quick to praise this young man from a small town as well. They absolutely loved what they heard! Judge Heidi Klum remarked that while she was a little worried about the beginning of his performance, he really started to sing like he was right at home when he got going.
We can understand why Joyner was so shy up on the stage. This was really the first time that he had performed in front of a large audience. It had to be difficult walking up on that stage. It was even harder singing for famous musicians, but he pulled it off like a champ for sure. Even judge Howie Mandel was very impressed by his voice.
