Tammy Slaton’s husband is finally getting some air time! A sneak peek of new episodes of the TLC show “1000-lb Sisters” offered some insights into the couple’s early days of getting to know each other and even some flirtatious moments.
In 2021, Slaton entered the Windsor Lane Rehabilitation Center in a bid to bring her weight down to a low of 500 pounds so that she could get weight loss surgery. During her stint in rehab, she met fellow patient Caleb Cunningham, who himself was going through his own tough weight loss journey. The pair bonded over their shared challenges, and soon enough, romantic sparks began to fly.
Willingham proposed to Slaton in October 2022, and a clip of the sweet proposal was shared with The Sun. While the couple got hitched on Nov. 20, 2022, Cunningham had yet to make an appearance on Slaton’s reality television show. After the nuptials, Slaton gushed to Us Weekly about her new husband:
“We support each other wholeheartedly. On our weight loss journeys, when he’s having issues with wanting to eat because he’s bored or because he’s an emotional eater, he comes to me and we talk about the situation. It’s the same for me and I talk to him. We talk about our issues and why we feel this way. We are true partners.”
She added nobody had ever made her feel the way Cunningham did.
“He treats me so different from any other person I was with. He truly was a godsend (through my weight-loss efforts),” she told the outlet.
Now, viewers will be privy to some sweet moments during their burgeoning romance teased in a clip from episodes of “1000-lb Sisters” to come.

In a clip of an episode of “1000-lb Sisters,” Slaton and Cunningham were seen engaging in conversation alongside their fellow patients at the Ohio rehab center. Still early days in their acquaintance, Slaton said: “Caleb is someone I have been getting to know for the past couple of weeks. Caleb’s been here for almost a year.”
During their conversation, Caleb revealed to Slaton his appreciation for her. “I’m really glad you stayed. ‘Cause now, you know, I kinda get to know you a little better,” he said.
Tammy responded, “I don’t know if that’s a good or a bad thing.”
Cunningham then went on to share that Slaton had gone above and beyond for him. “You know the other day, Tammy actually saved my life,” he told the other patients. “I was out of oxygen. I was sitting here hurting, in pain, tears falling down my face, and she got help. It meant the world to me because you showed kindness,” he added as Slaton blushed. When Slaton asked him what brought him to the rehab, he answered without hesitation: “You.”
“Just hearing about how well somebody was able to do (what you did made me think) ‘hey, I could do this too,’” he elaborated.
This prompted one of the other patients to pipe up, “So you looked at her social media, then you came in? What do they call that? Stalker vibes?” Cunningham remarked, “I don’t stalk, I do research okay?” This elicited laughter from Slaton and the other patients.
While we know the pair’s love story would eventually lead them down the aisle, it’s heartwarming to see just how their romance blossomed as they navigated their individual health journey.
