1) "This is just a phase!"
Sometimes, yes, but more often than not, people who don't have kids have made a choice that they plan to stick to permanently.
2) "But without children, your life won't have any meaning!"
There are other things that give life meaning, like friends, romantic partners, work and hobbies. It's possible to have a meaningful life without children.
3) "I would hate my life if I didn't have my children."
That's very unfortunate for you, but plenty of people without children love their lives just the way they are.
4) "If you don't have children soon, you might run out of time!"
This one is most often lobbed at women since men's reproductive systems don't have the same expiration date.
You shouldn't need to be told why it's rude to remind a lady that she's aging!
5) "You're going to be so alone when you're old!"
Children aren't a guarantee that you won't end up in a nursing home; there's millions of people who've put their parents into senior facilities and never come to visit.
6) "Why are you so selfish?"
Actually, bringing unwanted children into the world is selfish.
Knowing that you're not parent material and choosing not to have kids because of that is actually the opposite of being selfish.
7) "You'll never find a partner if you refuse to have kids."
This might be mind-blowing to some, but believe it or not, sometimes child-free people pair off together and become child-free couples.
8) "But the Bible says..."
Nope. Stop right there, please. It's bad enough to police the choices of others, but you're adding insult to injury when you guilt them with religious values in which they might not even believe.
9) "Who will you leave all of your money to when you die?"
First of all, most people don't want to think about their inevitable deaths. Secondly, there are plenty of deserving charities out there if you're looking for something to do with all of your extra money.
10) "I'm so jealous."
If you're a parent, don't say this to a child-free person. It just makes us feel guilty for your poor kids!
