It turns out that a blend of cypress oil and peppermint oil can also keep the cockroaches away. Just blend the oils in a glass spray bottle and use the mixture as needed.

Most people hate the scent of stale beer. Interestingly, cockroaches seem to love the scent. Scientists think that stale beer matches the pheromones that cockroaches naturally release. Because of this, stale beer naturally attracts these insects. Blend some stale beer and a tablespoon of vegetable oil in a jar. Then, leave the jar open with the lid off. Once the cockroaches get into the jar, the oil traps them and prevents them from leaving. 

Tea tree oil smells delicious and can actually repel insects. All you have to do is blend this essential oil with some water and vinegar. Then, spray the mixture around your house. Focus on the areas where cockroaches live or try to enter your home. If you spray the mixture directly on the cockroach, it will die. 

Bay leaves are another natural way to repel cockroaches. To use this technique, gather up as many bay leaves as possible. Then, crush the leaves and leave them around your home. 

This is another scent that cockroaches hate to smell. For some reason, the smell of lemons drives cockroaches crazy. The next time you mop your floors, blend a bunch of lemon juice into the mop water. For a more intensive treatment, leave lemon water on locations where the cockroaches like to congregate.

You can use this paste as a natural, effective way to kill cockroaches. Blend cornstarch and plaster of Paris together in equal amounts. Next, apply the mixture anywhere that you normally find cockroaches. You can also use this mixture in any entry or exit holes. 

Interestingly, cockroaches do not seem interested in the scent of coffee grounds. You can make an aroma bomb by adding coffee grounds to a jar. Then, add an inch of water to the jar. This coffee bomb can be used indoors or outdoors. 

While cockroaches love sugar, baking soda is not good for them. These ingredients look similar, so the cockroach will not realize that it is eating a toxic substance. Blend equal parts of baking soda and powdered sugar in a bowl. Leave this bowl somewhere that the cockroaches are likely to go. Once the cockroaches eat the baking soda, they will die. 

If you just enjoyed snacking on an apple, you can actually use the leftovers for a cockroach trap. You can use apple peels, potato slices or banana peels for this cockroach hack. Toss the fruit or potato peels into a jar. Then, apply petroleum jelly to the rim of the jar. After the cockroaches enter the jar to get the food, they will not be able to get out.
