Small Boy Breaks Down Crying Over Cute Chihuahua Pup

May 12, 2020

It seems these days that we live in a world where we're expected to hide our emotions. This strategy is treated as an instinct for survival: if you show weakness, you might not get that job you want so badly, or you might not win the game you've been training for. Tears are perceived as weaknesses, but that is far from the truth.

What's beautiful about children is that they don't hide their emotions, as we witness with this young boy who begins crying at how cute the Chihuahua puppy he's holding is.

Being stiff and emotionless can be a double-edged sword. In our effort to not come across as weak, we pretend nothing can move us, even if we are melting inside. When we keep our happy tears locked away, we deprive the world of something that it needs in these rough times: compassion.

Children do not have the instinct to hide their feelings. Their honesty provides us grown-ups with hope that it is still okay to feel. In this video, a little boy breaks down because of a Chihuahua's cuteness. The child's unbridled emotions cause him to dissolve into a curtain of tears.

So moving is the sight that it prompts the child's mom to ask what is wrong. “She’s just so beautiful!” is his reply, tears streaming down his face. Even the Chihuahua seems in tune with the boy's emotions. As the child cradles the puppy in his arms, she begins to give him kisses, as if trying to make it all better.

In the video, we can see a fast friendship growing between them. It is the best kind of friendship, when sentiments of love and beauty are openly expressed. We adults should stop and wonder when we became numb to the emotion evoked by beauty; why does growing up mean having to live in a hard world? After all, people tend to feel accepted when their emotions aren't hidden.

We need clips like this to remind us of what we lose when we grow up. There's nothing wrong with crying over the beauty of a puppy. Thank goodness children aren't afraid to show their emotions, because they remind us to pay attention to our own. If you know someone who needs a moment of sweet honesty, be sure to pass this on!
