Women's Firey Dance Moves Light Up The Stage At Clogging Championships

Apr 07, 2020

The story behind the Clogging Champions of America (CCA) is a simple one. They formed in 1997 to promote fun and fellowship among cloggers and those who were interested in it. Their group wants to make it exciting and competitive for both beginners and advanced cloggers.

This team, Sole Power, performing a routine at the 2016 CCA Championships, are a clear example of the latter!

While both tap dancers and clog dancers might seem similar, cloggers do an up and down motion with their heels to produce the signature sounds. Tap dancers usually perform in pairs or individually while cloggers are more well known for their groups and synchronized movements. Not to say tapping is easy compared, but wait until you lay your eyes on these moves

Sole Power, the featured team here, shows that power, not needing to stay light on their feet like tap dancers. These ladies mean business and show off their power and blink-and-you'll-miss-it movements!

A remix of “Get Low” by Lil Jon and The East Side Boyz and wearing crazy cool outfits, this group of women create a buzz amongst the audience, which absolutely gets raucous once they start clogging. It’s hard not to get into it with their enthusiasm and creative gear!

There is a confidence that shines through in this group, adding to their swagger, but they are nothing short of lightning-quick and fluid. There can be no doubt that in this competition, they are up there in the top echelons!

The hip-hop beats inspire a hip-hop-inspired routine and these ladies’ synchronicity, flow, and perfect match of their routine to the tunes lead to a veritable explosion of dancing perfection across the stage. Even if you haven’t heard, watched, or even thought of clogging, this is something that you really have to see to believe.

One thing that is impossible to deny is the work, practice, and choreography that had to have gone into sculpting this flawless routine. It’s a blend of creativity, talent, and outright sassy enthusiasm that’s impossible to deny!

Clogging might not be completely mainstream, but after seeing this, it probably should be. Once you’ve seen their skills and it’s put a smile on your face, be sure to pass it along to your friends and family so they can see just how intense clogging can be.
