It's amazing how well people treat their dogs. The relationship between man and dog has always been great and keeps improving. More people are loving the idea of keeping dogs as pets, and they do so by earning their trust. Here is the story of a woman who did what few would do to earn a stray dog's trust.
An Amazing Woman's Story
How much can you do for a stray dog? A woman in Manhattan sacrificed warm nights in her own home to sleep in freezing cold weather just to save a senior dog. This happened in New York City's Highland Park.
Denise Lauffer, aged 40, is the name of this woman who decided to build a makeshift shelter to house an elderly dog she had just met. Denise named this dog Charlie. Charlie and Denise slept in the makeshift shelter for 2 nights, and this is how she managed to earn his trust.
Charlie had been sleeping in Highland Park for a decade. When Denise relocated to this neighborhood, she immediately noticed Charlie.

Denise is a very kind woman. She already has 4 dogs of her own who once were strays as well. Since she loves dogs so much, the thought of a starving dog with no shelter just touched her. She started by leaving food for Charlie at the Park.
Later, Denise made a video recording of her feeding the dog. Charlie was so weak that he had trouble getting up. When winter finally came, she was afraid Charlie would die from exposure to extremely cold weather. That's when she decided to make a shelter for him. She made it warm and comfortable.
The neighbors were helpful as well, as they offered hot meals, hot water, and blankets. After sending 2 nights with him in the cold, Charlie was finally able to trust her, and she took her to the vet or checkup.
The best part? A neighbor then took him in and he got a permanent shelter.
Charlie is now a healthy elderly dog. He's already been vaccinated, and once his health stabilizes, he will be neutered.
