The woman in this video was bullied throughout her childhood for having a mane of wild, curly hair, as she explains in the video below. Children called her a "mushroom" and a "mop-top," among other things. She even brings photographs of herself into the interview/makeover in order to show the audience her previous styles. During this sequence, it becomes clearer and clearer that this woman — who is clearly beautiful and seems very kind — needs a confidence boost.
The woman confesses that while she acts cheerful and bubbly on the outside, her inner world is much darker and more introspective. She says that the bullying she experienced has been playing on repeat in her head for years. As a result, she's come to hate her curly hair. She wants to change her hairstyle and feel good about herself for the first time in years. Luckily, she's come to the right place.

Christopher Hopkins, perhaps better known as The Makeover Guy, is an expert when it comes to helping individuals boost their self-esteem. Women who come into his salon often seem unsure of themselves, and they often say that they are long in for a change. Luckily, as dozens of videos have shown, Hopkins is an expert. And his beauty transformations don't only make his clients look amazing, but they also make them feel amazing.
The woman in this episode has been married for nearly 20 years to her loving husband. They have two teenage children named Sophia and Noah. The woman works at an elementary school and helps students with disabilities. On the outside, it seems like her life is practically perfect. However, it's clear that the woman has a lot of internal struggles. She points out that she's a "caretaker" who doesn't like doing nice things for herself. As a result, this makeover is a "once in a lifetime thing." At 52, she's decided to get a makeover because she wants her inner light to shine brighter again.
According to her, everyone sees her as a big ball of energy. And while she might appear that way on the outside, she doesn't feel that way on the inside. If anything, she feels like her light is dimming. "I've never felt pretty," the woman says.
Most heartbreakingly, the woman says that she doesn't view this as a comeback. She says that she feels like she's never showed up in her life, to begin with. How can she have a comeback when she's been hiding her true self for most of her life? Luckily, the Makeover Guy is here to help. And the woman says that she's trusting him to do whatever's right for her.
When we see the woman after her makeover, she's crying tears of joy. She looks in the mirror and exclaims that she feels pretty and feminine. "Don't make me cry!" she says as she wipes the tears from her eyes with a tissue.
She gushes about how happy and pretty she feels and how the makeover has given her so much more confidence. It's clear that this makeover will leave a lasting impact on this woman's life.
She pauses periodically to admire herself in the mirror. Again and again, the woman emphasizes that she feels beautiful. If the kids who made fun of her in elementary school could see her now, we can't imagine what they'd think.
Her hair is attractively combed and styled at the top of her head. She wears delicate eye makeup and a black scarf that gives her a sophisticated look. It's clear that this makeover has made her a breathtaking woman. We feel privileged to watch it happen.
