Woman Discovers Husband's 'Other Family' When His Mistress Appears At Her Doorstep
Sep 19, 2023
Just as there are challenges in marriage that test the strength of love and companionship, there are vices damaging enough to break it off. One of these is the issue of cheating and its emotional effects. Every now and then, on social media and away from it, the subject of infidelity causes uproar, showing that it is a scandalous situation to be avoided.
Sadly, many people have dealt with infidelity. Reddit user Iwantadollaror899728 reached out to the Relationship Advice subreddit and opened up on how she discovered her husband had been two-timing her for years while soliciting advice concerning her plight. The post, which was made in 2019, showed how disconcerted the Reddit user felt as she revealed the dire situation.
At the time, the 32-year-old original poster (OP) titled her post such that it signified that she had just found out that her husband, a 36-year-old man, had a full-blown secret family with another partner who was 29 years old. She began by apologizing if the story sounded vague and incomplete, noting that she was confused and distressed. The Redditor revealed fragments of her disastrous situation:
"I thought that I had a pretty happy marriage with 'Jonas'. We have been together for 11 years now and married for 9. We have twins (f8)."
The OP continued her story by explaining that her spouse, Jonas, worked in a branch of business where he spent "3 months outside and 3 months at home." The OP further explained that they had an arrangement where her spouse would visit them, and the family would, in turn, visit him. Although this dynamic was inconvenient, they had to deal with it because her spouse earned pretty good money and she did not have to work.
The OP continued by writing that throughout the inconvenient situation, she did not suspect anything. She wrote:
"During all those years I have never suspected him (of) cheating. He was always 'super honest' with me and would even tell me about attraction to other people he felt."
The Redditor did not think she had a reason to worry until the situation she found herself in came unexpectedly. She explained how it all played out:
"Jonas is away on a business trip for the weekend. A woman knocked on my door. She introduced herself as 'cherry'. When I asked her what it was about she broke down crying. I took her in and after calming her she started to tell me this story about Jonas. Apparently she and Jonas have been together for over 6 years and have a little boy (3)together."
The OP and Cherry had both been played by Jonas as he kept both lives separate. The lady wrote that her partner had "2 different sets of social media accounts. And as his parents sadly passed away in a car accident 15 years ago, he didn't have to introduce either to them."
After hearing the mistress' story, the OP was livid and screamed at her, but she calmed down after a while, realizing that the mistress was also a victim. The Redditor explained that the mistress had found out about her husband's unfaithfulness when she discovered that he had an apartment that his company paid for through some bank statements.
It was the apartment he usually took the OP to when she visited. The OP continued that the mistress had searched for his keys and snooped, and that was when she uncovered his double life.

After meditating on the scandal for three months, the mistress decided to tell the OP the truth. Both women were angry with Jonas for putting them in that situation, and they could not help but become emotional.
The OP also explained that her husband was not married to his mistress because he had told her that he didn't believe in marriage. She wrote:
"I know I have to divorce him but maybe I just need some extra advice and a little husband roasting. Also should I keep in touch with chery and should we introduce our kids?"
Reddit users were quick to leave their opinions on the situation. One user wrote: "Talk to a lawyer first, please. Don't do or say anything that would jeopardize your rights and claims during a divorce, if you choose that path." Another user commented, "To OP I watched how hard this was on my friends family when they found out about his dad's 'other family' and am truly sorry this has happened to you."
A third user wrote: "Please OP, if this story is true, keep a good eye on 'Cherry' for a while. Ask her questions, make her prove her statements, observe her reactions, try to asses (sic) and predict her emotions and goals."
The Redditor received words of encouragement from fellow users who felt she needed all the strength to pull through the next line of action. Someone wrote: "This will be one of the hardest things you do, but it is so so important that you stand up for yourself. We believe in you."
Do you agree that the Redditor's next line of action should be legal? What other advice would you give in such a dire situation? Let us know, and be sure to pass this on to others.
