Winnie The Pooh’s Real-Life Hundred Acre Wood Was Ravaged By An Overnight Fire

Do you remember that enchanting forest where everyone's favorite honey-loving bear lives? If you had a childhood, then you probably fondly remember the Hundred Acre Wood from the Winnie the Pooh's tales. Wouldn’t it be wonderful to take a stroll through a real-life Hundred Acre Wood? Well, you can. There is a real-life One Hundred Acre Wood out there.
The Ashdown Forest is the real-life One Hundred Acre Wood. It is the inspiration for the fictional forest, acting as the setting for the adventures of Christopher Robin and Winnie the Pooh.
The author of Winnie the Pooh’s Tales, A. A. Milne, once owned a country home near the Ashdown Forest where he and his family would spend a few months out of the year. During the 1920s, the author’s son, Christopher Robin, explored and played in the forest and its streams. You can certainly see from where and who Milne took his inspiration.

Wouldn't you like to go and explore and experience the forest that inspired such a magical fictional world? Unfortunately, you can’t. Or at least you can’t experience thirty-five acres of the woods.
On Sunday night, a fire burned through the Ashcroft Forest.
The wildfire spread quickly and took it took multiple teams of firefighters, many of which were brought in from surrounding areas, to contain. Firefighters finished battling the fire on Monday morning. They will return to the Ashdown Forest on Tuesday to investigate the fire's cause and to do a damage assessment. They don’t suspect that it was intentionally caused.
Maybe you're feeling disappointed after hearing such awful news, regretting that you missed an opportunity to re-experience a happy childhood memory. Don’t be too sad. The real-life Hundred Acre Wood still has 6,465 acres left to experience.
