Will Smith Celebrates 50th Birthday By Bungee Jumping From Helicopter Over The Grand Canyon

It seems like just yesterday we were all gathering around the television to watch the “Fresh Prince of Bel Air.” Now, the Fresh Prince is turning 50 years old. He celebrated his birthday with his typical flair as you can see in his photo of the event.

Will Smith did not go out to a fancy restaurant or take a luxury vacation for his birthday. Instead, he decided that the best way to celebrate was to bungee jump out of a helicopter. To make the memory even more spectacular, his jump was above the Grand Canyon.

Thankfully, all of his fans can enjoy a video from after the trip. Smith posted a video on YouTube where he said that the jump was spectacular and he would definitely want to do it again.

Before the jump, he posted a photo of his family on Instagram. His wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, was there for the event. His children also came along for the special day. Plus, the actor who played Carlton, Alfonso Riberiro, arrived for the big event.

The idea for the celebration started with a YouTube challenge. A group called Yes Theory asked Smith to do the jump as a way to raise awareness for the different education campaigns offered through Global Citizen. Apparently, Smith was up for the challenge.

You can see the start of the jump in the film. Smith can be seen standing in the helicopter with his back turned toward the open air. Then, he counts down from five and leaps backward. According to Smith, it felt scary. The complete terror turned to bliss partway through the jump. Afterward, he said that he was relieved that the cord worked properly.

Once he knew that the cord was working, he was able to relax and enjoy the view. As he stretched out below the helicopter, it felt like the entire Grand Canyon was his. And after seeing this video, we think that the Grand Canyon is the perfect spot for bungee jumping.
