Wayward Seagull Slams Into Teenager’s Face On 75mph Amusement Park Ride

Amusement parks are a great place to visit to celebrate a friend’s birthday or the end of a long school year, or even just to spend the day with some loved ones. With an abundance of games, rides, great food and plenty of other activities to do, most people have an incredibly fun time at these parks and can expect to make some long-lasting memories. For one girl in New Jersey, this was not the case during her most recent visit to an amusement park.

A teenager at an amusement park in New Jersey had an unexpected experience while she was on one of the rides on July 6, 2021. Friends Kylie and Georgia were at Morey’s Piers in Wildwood, New Jersey, celebrating the latter’s birthday. The two teenage girls decided to go on to the SpringShot, a ride which launches riders into the air at 75 mph, but their experience on the amusement park ride was a little different than what they had expected.

The SpringShot is meant to safely and securely hold two people at a time in the same compartment of the ride, but the girls were met with an uninvited passenger after they were launched into the air. While Georgia was on one side of the ride screaming hysterically as she was launched high into the sky, her friend had an unexpected encounter with a seagull. The bird had collided with Kylie’s face, leaving the screaming teenager in a state of shock as she was still onboard the amusement park ride.

What was meant to be a typical day at an amusement park turned into one that two girls will never forget. When Kylie and Georgia went to Morey’s Piers, they decided to ride the SpringShot. According to FOX 29, the Springshot launches its riders into the air at 75 mph. A video of the teenagers on the ride has gone viral since their visit, and began with the two girls strapped into the SpringShot ride before being launched into the sky as if they were human cannonballs. 

Once the ride started up and shot them safely into the air, Georgia began screaming and cursing, while Kylie was met with an unexpected guest. A seagull appeared as if out of nowhere and smacked into the teenager’s face as she was still on the ride, with a look of shock quickly sweeping across her face. Looking surprised and disgusted at the same time, Kylie froze at first when the seagull landed on her face, but was finally able to move her arm and yank the bird off her face and away from her.

Speaking with FOX 29, Kiley talked about the bizarre encounter and how she saw the bird coming before it smacked her in the face. “I knew there was no going back and it was just going to hit me,” she explained. “I didn’t know what to do so I wait for it to spin over, and then I just grabbed it and threw it off me quick.” FOX 29 reported that neither Kylie nor Georgia have any plans to go on the SpringShot ever again.
