Upset Mom Ruins Gender Reveal Party After Learning She’s Expecting Another Daughter

During pregnancy, many moms have expectations such as the gender of their baby, who the baby will look like, and other situations that encapsulate childbirth. However, when those expectations do not come out as envisioned, this could lead to an irrational reaction. An expectant mother caught social media users' attention on TikTok after she was filmed physically expressing her anger over her baby's gender reveal.

Being pregnant comes with different feelings, and many moms can attest to emotions ranging from happiness, anxiety, anger, and sadness. Sometimes these feelings can be linked to pregnancy hormones and be uncontrollable. But, for this mom-to-be, she did not hold back on how she felt when her expectations turned out otherwise. 

According to experts, this twinge of sadness or deep anger is known as "gender disappointment." In a 2013 interview with Today, USCF neuropsychiatrist Dr. Luann Brizendine revealed that although gender disappointment is rarely discussed in the maternity space, it is a common occurrence among pregnant women. Brizendine stated: 

"As many as 1 in 5 women express at least some disappointment about the sex of the child they are carrying."

The medical expert revealed further that moms often feel guilt and shame about being disappointed, and this leads them to suppress their emotions and also dismiss how they truly feel. Brizendine shared that in place of expressing their feelings, the expecting mothers would resort to a coping mechanism called active reframing. Active reframing is when an expectant mom constantly tells herself that the gender that did not meet her expectations is good. 

The raging pregnancy hormones sometimes win, and the expectant mom reacts. It is safe to say that in the TikTok mom's case, her hormones won. The chaotic clip appeared to have been filmed after she found out the gender of her child. The occasion was held outside on a field where tables and chairs were laid out. The tables were covered in blue and pink silk tablecloths to indicate the event. 

On one side, the pregnant woman could be seen thrashing around and scattering the decorations. Her guests stood shocked and transfixed on the other end of the tables as they watched her exert her frustration on the party items. At one point, one of her guests tried comforting her, but she was inconsolable. The person behind the camera found it unbelievable as she quipped, "Oh, she is really mad! It's OK. Aww." "I didn't think she was for real," a second person whispered.

Toward the end, the raging mom took off her sash and chucked it on the floor. She then stormed off, indicating she was done with the party. Her show of disappointment sparked criticism in the comment section as people weighed in on the situation. 

Someone lashed out, "Not 'awww.' It is me taking my gift back and leaving." One mom shared, "I have four girls and wouldn't want it any other way…" another mom added, "A healthy baby is what's important." More media users have continued to share their opinions as they lashed at the mom for letting her emotions get the better part of her.
