Upset Mom Reveals How Vegan Neighbor Refuses To Treat Her Daughter’s Head Lice Infestation

Aug 09, 2023

Head lice is one of the critical hair problems which most people try and avoid. In cases where the hair is already infested with these parasitic insects, the affected person tends to seek solutions immediately. However, a mom shared her dilemma with the public after her vegan neighbor refused to treat her daughter's head lice.

Having lice is not peculiar to a certain age range as it can affect adults and children alike, which is why many parents try to prevent the infestation. However, the possibility of children getting head lice cannot be erased, as they spend lots of time with other children from different homes.

Head lice can be transmitted between individuals through direct or indirect contact. If not immediately treated, it can get very uncomfortable for the affected person. Lice causes intense itching with time, and this is not a pleasant side effect.

Many parents have tried eliminating this parasite by buying beauty products specially made for head lice treatment. While some prefer trying different remedies alone, some parents simply see a dermatologist.

Lice infestation is dreaded among parents, but the mom, with the username Nitty Gritty, was taken aback when she learned that not all parents see the need to prevent or treat head lice. She shared a shocking revelation in 2015 with life coach Alex Carlton on the Australian website Nine.com.au about how her neighbor refused to treat her daughter's head lice.

Nitty Gritty started by explaining that her 7-year-old daughter was friends with a little girl called River, whose family was vegan. The mother stated that she respected her parents' choice and even tried to make special meals whenever the girl was around.

However, she became concerned when she discovered River had a head lice infestation. This alarmed her, and when she told the little girl's mom, the reaction was shocking. Nitty Gritty revealed:

"To my surprise, this woman said that not only did she know about her daughter's condition but refused to do anything about it."

The astonished woman stated that her neighbor refused to treat her daughter's lice. Her reason: "Vegans don't kill any living things." She added that her "jaw hit the floor" when River's mom uttered those words. She added:

"My neighbour told me she was in the practice of combing the lice and nits into the garden where they had a chance of survival."

The concerned mom noted that she was confused about how to address the issue as she did not want to separate the kids, although she did not subscribe to her neighbor's style of treating lice. Carlton responded to the mother, explaining that her neighbor needed to know that it was near to impossible not to kill anything.

The life coach noted that the neighbor condemned them to a slow death by simply combing those lice into the garden. Carlton described the neighbor as a "sanctimonious twit" and advised the concerned mom to focus on finding ways to prevent her daughter from getting infested if she wanted to maintain the girls' friendship.

Carlton suggested she keep her child's hair tightly packed to the back and use a protective spray. The Sydney-based journalist said the protective spray should be composed of "conditioner, tea-tree and eucalyptus oils, and water."
