UPS Driver Pulls Over For Passing Funeral Procession, Stands In Honor Of Fallen Officer
Aug 01, 2018
A UPS driver in Bartlett, TN, did not know the fallen police officer, Capt. Paul Phillips, but he knew what the word respect means and did his part that day. A woman driving in the funeral procession noticed UPS's Sean Brockway standing silently in the blazing heat as the long line of vehicles passed by.
She was impressed by his integrity and told the world on Facebook.
Haley Smith's husband, a former police officer, knew the late Capt. Phillips and the 25 years of faithful service he gave to his community. Philips always had a ready smile and was considered an asset to his town. Mrs. Smith was touched to see residents and strangers line up to watch the procession on July 17th. The Bartlett Police Dept. had asked the community to keep Phillips and his family in their thoughts.

She was especially moved to see the UPS driver get out of his truck to stand in honor. Mrs. Smith stated that you don't see that often today because of the recent strained tensions and climate between officers and residents around the United States.
Being a cop is a difficult job, she says, and her community of Bartlett appears to have compassion for these public servants. Sean Brockway stood out as a person who understands what police officers give back to their communities. Mrs. Smith says this is a good sign that helps ease her worry about the hard job the men and women in blue do every day. Most people appreciate their service, she says.
Haley Smith made a lovely video montage about fallen police officer, Capt. Paul Phillips. She has wanted others who never met him to learn more about the gentleman behind the badge.
Mrs. Smith is right; using social media to spread the word about this heartwarming story serves a purpose. What are your thoughts about honoring a fallen officer in good standing?
