British celebrity chef Gary Rhodes has died at the age of 59 in Dubai.
The chef passed away with his wife Jennie at his side on Tuesday, reports the BBC quoting from a statement released by his family. He was Dubai-based where he owned two restaurants—Rhodes W1 and Rhodes Twenty10.
Rhodes was an accomplished chef known for his work on the TV shows "MasterChef USA," "MasterChef," "Hell’s Kitchen," and "Rhodes Around Britain." He also made a stint on “Strictly Come Dancing,” and was known for his signature spiky hairdo.

His friend Gordon Ramsey led the tributes on social media with a tweet acknowledging that Rhodes had “put British Cuisine on the map.” Rhodes had been working in the culinary arts for 30 years and had achieved an Officer of the Order of the British Empire for his efforts in British cuisine.
Jamie Oliver also posted a touching post on Instagram sending love to his family at this time. Without Rhodes, maybe there would be no Jamie Oliver who wrote, “he was a massive inspiration to me as a young chef.”
The Dubai hotels where his restaurants were based also released a statement, quoted in CNN.
"Not only has the industry lost a true culinary legend, we have also lost an inspirational human being and a very dear friend," the statement read. "No words can express our sadness at Gary's death or our gratitude for the opportunity to work with him. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Rhodes family."
Rest in peace to Gary Rhodes. Be sure to pass on the news of his passing to those you know who are ‘Masterchef’ fans.
