In 2015, little Brianna was celebrating Christmas in Oklahoma. She had been fighting a fever for the past few days, but her parents expected her to be okay.
However, their concerns intensified when they saw Brianna's face turning blue. As they all desperately tried to get her help, they were alarmed when she started vomiting blood.
After they rushed her to the hospital, even the emergency surgery couldn't save her. The doctors weren't able to stop any of the internal bleeding in Brianna's esophagus.
Doctors would later discover that it was a tiny circular battery that was the cause of Brianna's sickness and death.
What would seem relatively insignificant to an adult was something enticing to Brianna. According to doctors, she likely swallowed the battery six days before she died.
Now, every Christmas, the Florers and Vice are reminded of the beautiful baby girl they all loved so deeply
As the holidays wrap up, parents need to remember to be cautious with the toys they've gifted their children. While they may seem small and harmless, Brianna's story proves that even the tiniest of pieces can do incredible damage.
Though it is too late for Brianna, it might not be for other children. Brianna's loved ones are determined to share her story to help inform parents of the dangers of these small batteries.
Taking the time to pass on Brianna's story might save the life of another little child.
