This Woman Proved Old People Have The Smartest Comebacks When She Was Mocked By A Cashier

Aug 06, 2018

We're all going to get old one day. Despite most of us realizing this, it seems like a lot of young people still feel as if they're somehow superior to senior citizens.

When an older woman was checking out at the grocery store, the cashier decided to give her some major attitude.

It started when the old woman requested plastic bags for her groceries, which we've been using in supermarkets for generations. The cashier decided to shame her and tell her that she wasn't being friendly to the environment.

The old woman politely apologized, informing the cashier that recyclable bags weren't popular when she was young. Instead of just accepting her apology and moving on, the cashier doubled down and told the old woman that her generation was responsible for why the environment was in jeopardy.

At that point, this feisty grandma decided to stand up for herself.

She informed the cashier that in her day, milk came in recycled containers that were returned after use. She also told the grocery clerk that in her day, all bags were paper and were reused around the house, instead of just being thrown away in the trash bin. She continued, listing off each and every thing that her generation reused and recycled, including even diapers.

This old woman's response was completely epic. The cashier had absolutely no comeback and proceeded to finish the transaction in total stunned silence. Maybe she'll learn not to criticize a customer for her age again in the future.

Ultimately, while we may have made some improvements when it comes to being friendly to the environment, we'd be wise to look to the past for lessons on how we can do even better.

Have you ever seen an older person stand up to age-shaming? Do you think we should return to the days of recycling everything and avoiding waste? Tell us your story in the comments.
