This Military Trick Can Make You Fall Asleep In A Mere 2 Minutes

Sep 27, 2018

After working all day, there is no greater feeling than climbing into your bed and drifting off to sleep. It's something that many people look forward to throughout their day.

But it's not always that easy for people to fall asleep, no matter how tired they are. While you want nothing more than to fall asleep, you toss and turn just trying to get comfortable enough.

Our members of the military know this better than anyone. They are brave and fight for our country. It's not easy to get a good night’s sleep. At times, they are lucky to get just a couple hours of sleep at night. Lack of sleep was a critical mistake many soldiers made during the Second World War.

After this, military members have found a trick that helps them go to sleep in just two minutes.

The U.S. Navy Pre Flight School discovered a scientific method that helps someone falls asleep under a variety of circumstances. It could be the middle of the night or at the brightest time during the day.

They sleep when they can. They did six weeks of training. After their research, this school discovered 96% of the participants were successful with this method in falling asleep quickly. It took only these four simple steps.

Step 1

Most people prefer to sleep laying flat, however, this isn’t always an option for pilots. They can’t just lay down while they are on a flight. Because of this, they are trained to fall asleep in a chair when they aren’t needed in the flight.

They use these simple tricks to fall asleep. The trick is to keep your feet flat on the floor and to keep your hands limp in your lap. You then relax all the muscles in your face. Make sure to keep your eyes closed.

Step 2

After your face muscles are relaxed, let your shoulders relax and drop low. Make sure you don’t sink into yourself while you are doing this. Keep your posture so you don’t wake up stiff and sore. Take a few deep breaths and release any tensions you have.

Let your arms go limp starting with your dominant arm. Do one arm at a time. Start first with your bicep and move to your forearm and hands and fingers. After you are done, move onto your other arm.

Step 3

Once you relax your arms and upper body, move onto your legs. Just like with your arms, do one leg at a time. Start by relaxing your thigh.

Then move to your calf muscles and your ankle and foot. Once one leg is done, move onto the other. Your whole body should now be relaxed.

Step 4

Now move onto the final step. This is the most difficult for many people. You need to clear your mind. For 10 seconds, try to forget about your day, no matter how good or bad it was.

Forget about all of the stress. If you don’t clear your mind, your muscles could start contracting involuntarily. This will cause you to move even if you don’t mean to.

If you can’t clear your mind, author Lloyd Bud Winter suggests you think of yourself in a canoe in the lake. Or imagine you are being snuggled in a velvet hammock in a very dark room. You can even try just thinking to yourself “Don’t think” over and over again.

After your mind is clear, you should be able to drift asleep very quickly.
