They Thought He Was Steve Irwin – Rob Irwin Stuns With Eerie Lookalike Shot

Oct 03, 2020

Robert Irwin, the youngest child of Steve and Terri Irwin, has followed in his father's footsteps with his commitment to wildlife conservation and his work at the Australia Zoo in Queensland, Australia. A photo he posted in February of this year shows him looking eerily like his late father, so much so that people had to look twice.

The photo, which was shared on Instagram, shows the 16-year-old Rob smiling with his eyes closed while holding a koala. So much about the photo channels his dad's energy.

People could hardly believe their eyes when they saw the photo of Rob, and fans who follow him felt quite moved when they witnessed the eerie similarities to his father. It has definitely brought up a lot of nostalgia. One person commented: "Didn’t look at the name on the shirt and honest to god thought I was looking at Steve." Another person added: "I legit thought this was Steve," reports 7NEWS.

Robert Irwin was born on December 1, 2003. He has an older sister, Bindi, 22, who is pregnant with her first child with husband Chandler Powell. Rob was just 2-years-old when his father died. Steve Irwin, who was known fondly as "The Crocodile Hunter," was killed by a stingray barb in a tragic accident whilst filming the documentary Ocean's Deadliest.

Aside from his work at Australia Zoo, Rob is also a passionate wildlife photographer and has won numerous awards for his talents.

It isn't the first time Rob has highlighted the similarities between him and his father. In a social media post from 2019, Rob shows a photo of him feeding the same crocodile in the same spot his dad had 15 years before him. It's even more special to see that Rob, who didn't get much time with his father, is able to feel a connection to him through continuing his work.
