These Horses Definitely Don't Appreciate The Snow
Dec 10, 2018
The East Coast is used to cold, bitter temperatures and whirling snowstorms. During this time, many pets have to stay indoors, only venturing out with their owners from time to time. It can be frustrating for many high-energy pets, such as dogs, who love to run and play outdoors. It’s no different for the horses who have to stay in their stables for many days at a time.
One owner decided that she was going to let her two beloved horses come out for a while and play in the fresh snow. She didn’t realize, however, how they were going to react when she did! Many horses do enjoy playing in the snow. But not these two! They are not fans of the fluffy white stuff at all.
We don’t want you to worry about horses and cold temperatures! There are a few things that happen to horses when the colder weather hits. The Bangor Daily News has explained that horses are built to adapt to the cold. They have a winter coat that raises and keeps their internal body temperature up and the cold out.

Some owners also place large blankets on their backs to help keep them even warmer. While some horse owners like to blanket their horses, some claim it is not necessary, as wild horses are built to survive even heavy snowstorms.
However, it comes down to how a horse feels about the blanket and the preference of the owner. Of course many want to keep their horses as warm as possible. After all, these creatures are very precious to us! They should all be taken care of as well as possible, especially when the conditions are so bad outside
Even though these two horses are covered in heavy blankets, they aren’t happy about being out in the cold weather. They try to take a couple of steps in the snow, but as soon as they feel that cold, wet stuff on their hooves it was off to the stable. They ran back in perfect unison!
Mom thinks it’s hysterical as the two horses turn back in unison in order to get out of the cold. They do not want any part of it!
