The Prettiest Twin Sisters On Record Are Quite Grown Up Today

Ava Marie and Leah Rose Clements were dubbed the world's most beautiful twins by numerous media outlets when they were still very young. With their long locks and striking features, it is easy to see why they have this title. Not only are they gifted in the beauty department, but they are also active kids with an active lifestyle. Recently, they also used their large reach to help their father receive a transplant and fight his cancer. Today the two girls are 10 years old, and here's what they look like now.

Born on July 7, 2010, these two girls were natural beauties even at a young age. Their mother, Jaqi Clements, said that she was often stopped by strangers on the street that would comment on the girls and their striking looks. It was these strangers continually commenting on the girls and their beauty that encouraged her to look into modeling for the twins when they were 6 months old, reports Daily Mail.

However, Jaqi became sidetracked when her son was hitting the dreaded toddler years. It was too much on Jaqi's busy mom plate to deal with at the time, so she put off the modeling aspirations for a bit.

Life finally calmed down and Jaqi was able to explore the modeling options for Ava and Leah. Not surprisingly, every modeling agency that Jaqi contacted was eager to sign the girls. It did not take long for them to sign with two agencies once their fame began to take hold. The Daily Mail reports that girls currently work with fashion agencies and clothing brands among other options.

Jaqi first created an Instagram page to show off her girls' beauty when they turned 7 years old. "Aside from the fact that I'm a huge believer in signs and have been told by almost everyone that 7 is a lucky number, I just had a feeling that this year was going to be a fun and exciting year for them," Jaqi reportedly said in 2019. Currently, this social media page has over 1.8 million followers and continues to grow every day.

When it comes to children modeling, some people are not shy to express their opinions. In 2019, Jaqi told Daily Mail that many people tend to judge parents who spend a lot of money in trying to maintain their lifestyle and that the added expenses of supporting the twins' modeling career are one of the challenges for them as parents.

She said, "I know in our case and probably in most cases the parents are putting out more money in order to support their kids. But I guess if you really put it all into perspective, the money we as parents put out now to support our kids in something they love doing, will allow them to make their own money they can use towards College or a car or a house in the future. So if you think about it, it’s really not so bad after all!"

She has also learned not to trust people as easily in the modeling industry."Not everyone was so genuine and honest with us," she adds. "This by far has been one of the most stressful, upsetting, mind-boggling, and biggest lessons I’ve learned in this industry so far. So make sure you don’t make the same mistake as me! Do your research! 

"If something seems a little off with someone you think you should trust, go with your gut instinct. You might be surprised at how many people feel the same way you do!" elaborated Jaqi.

The sweet girls are more than just models. According to their Instagram page, they are also kept busy on their swim and dance teams. Their little brother is just as adorable and Daily Mail reports that is now doing his own modeling jobs. It is not hard to see where the children get their beauty when you see the pictures of their striking parents.

Unfortunately, their father has fought the scary diagnosis of cancer in the last year. However, the girls used their social media account to try to find him a donor and it seems like the family got lucky. While they believed it was a long shot, the girls were able to not only help their father but also raise awareness about this type of cancer. 

Kevin Clements, the father of three, was a swim coach at JSerra Catholic High School in San Juan Capistrano, California. He told CBS LA that he felt sick a few days before Halloween Day in 2019. He described it as a "little bit of a cold" coming on while talking to People, but it never occurred to him that it was actually something serious. After his symptoms worsened over the next few days, he approached medical professionals. On October 30, he received the frightening diagnosis: a rare, aggressive cancer called T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia/lymphoma.

“That is when everything changed,” Kevin Clements said. 

The family said that even if they were unable to find a match through the Clements twins' efforts, they could still help the thousands of people needing bone marrow transplants. The test to know if someone is a match is only a cheek swab, and the actual procedure is reported to be painless. 

Talking to 7News Australia, Kevin said of his daughters' efforts, "The response was awesome - I love them being able to use their platform to help other people as well." The twins also partnered with DKMS, which is the world's largest bone marrow donor center, and helped to organize a bone marrow drive in an effort to got more people to understand how they can help. “It’s an easy process to be a bone marrow donor, and I think a lot of people have this misconception that it is hard and painful, but it’s really not," Kevil Clements said. 

Kevin Clements later found a match in his brother and successfully underwent a bone marrow transplant earlier in 2020, and his family has been right by his side helping him with his recovery. "It is a long, long road. I’m about 39 days out from the transplant, and it is rough at times," Kevin told 7News in March 2020. "But at times, I feel energy and I feel excited, and being at home and resting and being around these guys is amazing."

Even though they are so young, the Clements twins have made a large impact on social media and further. 

In the age of ever-multiplying "influencers" of the internet, there is also a rise in "twinfluencers" that has captured the public's attention. This is something that the Clements twins can also bank on as the years go because currently, there a quite a few pairs of twins that have been taking the internet by storm. Some of the most well-known "twinfluencers" who have a major impact on Youtube and social media are  Merrell Twins, the Rybka Twins, Niki and Gabi DeMartino, and Brooklyn and Bailey McKnight among others. 

It makes us wonder, what is it about twins that makes us so fascinated? The internet is stories of twins is certainly not new: shows featuring famous twins Mary Kate and Ashley were extremely popular, as was Sister, Sister starring Tia and Tamera Mowry. The story of long-lost twin sisters finding each other at a summer camp in the movie Parent Trap remains in our social consciousness even today. Though Lindsay Lohan does not have an identical twin, the movie received critical acclaim. More recently, The Suite Life of Zach and Cody was also a huge hit. There is no doubt then that it is something about twins that works really well. 

Interestingly, there are more twins being born today than have ever been in history. A report by the National Center for Health Statistics says that the rate of twins rose by 76 percent from 1980 to 2009. At this time, one in every 30 births in the US was twins, and since then, CNN reports that the rate has only gone up. 

Speaking to The Atlantic, teenagers who are drawn to twin-related content say that the idea of twins fascinates them and makes them wonder how it would be to grow up with a twin. Recent online trends include "challenges" that involve pranks on parents and teachers, which works quite well within the "twinfluencer" sphere.

Another reason twins work so well on social media is because of their inherent chemistry on screen. “It’s the same reason why couples channels do well,” Alan Stokes, a 22-year-old influencer with 4.3 million followers on Instagram told The Atlantic. “Twins are the closest you can get to someone without it being a couple thing.” His brother, Alex, chimed in saying, "I’ve noticed on YouTube especially, pairs just work better. It makes the video more interesting."

Twin content also works so well because of the ease of collaboration. Twins, unlike friends or business partners, have each others' best interests in mind and can resolve conflicts much quicker. They also support each other in different ways: while one person may be better at socializing, another may be better at technical skills which when combined, make for excellent content on social media that rakes in followers. 

In this way, twins have an advantage when it comes to becoming popular online. Though the Clements twins are still young, they are definitely making waves. They have continued to use their large reach to help their cousin Shane, who diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) at 10-months-old, by selling nail polish to raise more funds. It is truly heartwarming to see these sweet girls using their fame for a great cause.
