The Guru Who Helped Adele Get Back On Track: Glennon Doyle
Aug 19, 2020
Adele has been in the spotlight since the start of her immensely successful career, but due to her recent physical transformation, the media and public have been even more interested in her life. In a rare outpouring about her personal affairs, Adele has told the world one of the reasons she's feeling and looking so great. And it's all thanks to one woman — an author by the name of Glennon Doyle, whose book Untamed: Stop Pleasing, Start Living, is loved by celebrities all over.
In a rather out of character move, Adele posted to her Instagram raving about Untamed, divulging some personal information along the way. Posting a picture of the book's cover, she captioned the post:
"If you’re ready - this book will shake your brain and make your soul scream. I am so ready for myself after reading this book! It’s as if I just flew into my body for the very first time. Whew! Anyone who has any kind of capacity to truly let go and give into yourself with any kind of desire to hold on for dear life - Do it. Read it. Live it. Practice it. We are a lot! But we are meant to be a lot! .. 'A good life is a hard life!'"

Written by Glennon Doyle, a former mommy blogger turned author, Glennon's journey through life has not been an easy one, but that's what's made her stronger and truly turned her life around. A former bulimic, drug-using, alcoholic, who was in an unhappy marriage with an unfaithful husband, Glennon turned her life around over many years and is now a successful self-help author with three books.
Her first book Carry On, Warrior brought her success, while her second, Love Warrior, was an Oprah book club selection. Her third, Untamed: Stop Pleasing, Start Living has been a success with celebrities including Mandy Moore, Chelsea Handler, and Reese Witherspoon.
In the last couple of years, after overcoming her eating disorder and various addictions, Glennon unexpectedly found love with a woman, Olympic footballer Abby Wombach. She's happier than ever and even has the blessing of her ex-husband, with whom she shares three kids. The Daily Mail reports that Glennon said that love at first sight with a woman: "blew every belief system I had, and everything I thought about myself."
She's certainly lived through a lot and has the kind of positive outlook that no doubt translates to her book.
Meanwhile, in her same Instagram post, Adele made mention of how best to read the book, saying:
"Read this book and have a highlighter on hand to make notes because you’ll want to refer back to it trust me! I never knew that I am solely responsible for my own joy, happiness and freedom!! Who knew our own liberation liberates those around us? Cause I didn’t!! I thought we were meant to be stressed and disheveled, confused and selfless like a Disney character! ProBloodyFound!! You’re an absolute don Glennon ♥️"
Adele knows her fair share of hardships, having grown up working class in Tottenham, North London, and struggling with her weight for much of her life. She also admitted to being a "massive drinker" and has struggled with post-partum depression, as well as a failed marriage to her ex-husband Simon Konecki. It's incredible to see her looking and feeling so good of late, and if Glennon's book is a big part of her progress journey, we're interested to see who else it could help.
