Texas Boy Who Spent 1,553 Days In Foster Care Overjoyed By Official Adoption
Feb 26, 2020
Not every child in this country is born into a loving and stable family. Some children spend the bulk of their young lives being shuttled around between foster families simply trying to find a permanent home.
Nike Garza was an 8-year-old living this life of bouncing around in the foster system. Fortunately, he finally got his big break. After spending 1,553 days in the system, the second-grader from Collin County, Texas met his forever family.
The numbers are staggering. According to The Texas Family Initiative, there can be as many as 30,000 children in foster care in the state of Texas alone. Of that number, approximately 3,500 are waiting to be permanently adopted. Nike Garza was one of these children.
David and Kristi Schwartz are the lucky parents who entered Nike's life and fell in love with him. The couple is parents to other children, one of which is also adopted. They began fostering Nike in 2016 and quickly fell in love with him. They said that the connection that they felt to the boy was instant, according to an article by Good Morning America.

Although the process of adoption is long and hard, the Schwartz family knew that they had to keep pushing through. Finally, the blessed day arrived. It was time for the adoption to become official.
The Schwartz family invited hundreds of family and friends to the local courthouse to watch the proceedings. Included on the guest list were their church, family, Nike's classmates, and more, KGun9 Tuscon reports.
It should be no surprise that this moment of adoption went viral. The clip was originally put on Twitter by the Bucker International adoption agency. Nike's reaction to the fact that he is now officially a Schwartz is truly priceless.
After you watch this precious moment, be sure to spread all of the love to everyone else that you know. We wish the Schwartz family all of the best as they embark on this new journey. Be sure to tell us what you think about everything in the comments below!
