On Sept. 24, 2023, rumors sparked that Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce were an item after the pop star was spotted cheering on Kelce, the star tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs, during their game against the Chicago Bears at Arrowhead Stadium.

The media flurry following Swift’s appearance at the game and her friendly interactions with Kelce led to a flurry of interest from fans. Both stars, known for their massive followings in their respective industries —Swift in music and Kelce in football — have since been spotted together on multiple occasions.

Swift and Kelce’s relationship quickly evolved into a cultural sensation, fusing the worlds of music and football in a way that has captivated fans across the globe. Swift quickly became a fixture at Kelce’s Kansas City Chiefs games, and her presence seemed to bring the team good luck — many of the matches she attended ended in wins, including the AFC Championship and the Super Bowl.

As her connection to the sport deepened, Swift couldn’t help but admit how much she had missed out. In her 2023 TIME Person of the Year interview, she candidly confessed: “Football is awesome, it turns out,” adding: “I’ve been missing out my whole life.” The whole experience has turned her into a fan.

On Jan. 26, 2025, the Kansas City Chiefs triumphed over the Buffalo Bills in a thrilling AFC Championship game, clinching a 32-29 victory to secure their spot in the Super Bowl. While the game kept fans on the edge of their seats, Swift and Kelce’s public displays of affection had a similar effect in the pop culture sphere.

The game was neck-and-neck, with the teams tied in the fourth quarter, but a field goal from Harrison Butker gave the Chiefs the edge with just minutes remaining. This victory sets the stage for a rematch with the Philadelphia Eagles in the Super Bowl, a repeat of last year’s championship showdown.

During the postgame show, Kelce, 35, couldn’t resist breaking into the chorus of “Get Down Tonight” by KC and the Sunshine Band when asked about the Chiefs being one game away from a three-peat. Amid the celebration, Swift, also 35, clad head-to-toe in Louis Vuitton, pulled Kelce close, brushed his hair back and gave him a few kisses while confetti rained around them.

The moment was a throwback to the 17-10 Chiefs win over the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC Championship 2024 when Swift joined Kelce on the field to celebrate, flanked by his parents, Donna and Ed, and his brother, Jason. At the time, the couple also couldn’t resist packing on the PDA, sharing kisses as they soaked in the victory.

Back then, Kelce took a moment to address the crowd, quoting the Beastie Boys’ iconic “Fight For Your Right” in his speech. The star player yelled into his microphone:

“You’ve got to fight/ for your right/ to party!”

The Chiefs are now just one victory away from making NFL history by becoming Super Bowl champions for the third year in a row — something no team has ever done. But standing in their way are the Philadelphia Eagles, eager to end Kansas City’s streak.

The epic Super Bowl showdown will kick off on Sunday, Feb. 9, 2025.
