Tammy Slaton Defends Use Of Filters On Her Social Media Posts: “It’s My Profile”
Aug 07, 2023
The TLC television series “1000-lb Sisters” has become a guilty pleasure for many people in the United States and anyone who can access it in other countries. It’s a show that follows the lives of Amy and Tammy Slaton, sisters who once weighed over 1,000 pounds and depended on each other for support. The series depicts their hardships living as morbidly obese women while trying to find their own path to health and happiness.
Similar to “My 600-lb Life,” “1000-lb Sisters” has a fan following of people cheering on Amy and Tammy as they navigate weight loss and other obstacles in life, specifically ones related to their health. While many people have grown to adore the sisters for their sense of humor and relationship with each other, others have pointed out how unmotivated the sisters sometimes seem to care for themselves and take their health situation seriously.
Each season depicts the challenging lives of overweight sisters Amy and Tammy. The two navigate their relationship and personal lives, together with their weight loss goals. Throughout each season, both sisters try to eat healthier and exercise more to give themselves a better chance at a happier, healthier, and longer life.
However, many fans have watched Amy show much more progress than Tammy. Although Tammy’s progress wasn’t as fast as her sister’s, the reality TV star has been making giant strides toward achieving her health and weight loss goals. In June 2023, Tammy shared an Instagram picture that showed she had made formidable progress. Despite her progress, Tammy was criticized for using filters in her photos and videos. However, Tammy didn’t let her critics have their way as she responded to them via an Instagram Reel video on Aug. 4, 2023.
Tammy has warned off naysayers questioning her use of filters on her Instagram page. The “1000-lb Sisters” star, who has come under heavy backlash for using filters in her social media posts, told those uncomfortable with her love for using filters to leave her page.
Tammy’s response to the critics came in a video she shared on Aug. 4, 2023, which she captioned:
“Over this stupid filter bull crap.”
“I keep seeing everybody say, ‘Stop using filters, stop using filters,’” Tammy said in the Instagram Reel.
“Listen, I am not trying to be rude, but it’s my profile,” the 37-year-old TLC star said. “And if I like using the filters, I will. And if you got a problem with it?” Tammy added, waving goodbye to the naysayers.
“Plain and simple, like, it’s my profile. If you’ve got a problem with it?” Tammy repeated, waving goodbye a second time.
“Seriously? Like, I don’t get it. I am proud of myself. I continue to post and show off my hard work.”
“So what? I use a filter.”
Further into the video, the reality TV star explained why she used filters on her social media posts.
“I don’t like the colorization in my cheeks. All the spots from the sun and the freckles,” she said, pointing to her cheeks.
Tammy was not quite done with critics in the first video. Shortly after her first reel, she posted another video, this time channeling Taylor Swift’s “Shake It Off” in passing her message. Tammy sang and danced along as the song played in the background.
Fans of the reality TV star took to the comment section to support her.
“I am glad to see Tammy genuinly happy. Keep going!,” one user commented.
“No one should give you a hard time for using filters,” wrote another.
