Susan Sarandon’s Daughter Gets Brutally Roasted Online For Wearing ‘Vulgar’ Bridal Dress To Her Wedding

Jul 04, 2024

Actress Susan Sarandon has had a long and successful career, starting out as a wide-eyed ingénue in the 1970s. She has since starred in various films and television shows and has been honored with awards and accolades over her several decades in the entertainment industry.

The star has also appeared on stage, both on and off Broadway. Aside from her acting career, Sarandon has also been a vocal activist for various causes, including endometriosis treatment.

Sarandon was born on Oct. 4, 1946, in New York City, New York. During her school years, she found a love for performing and began acting, dancing, and playing musical instruments. It was clear that she had talent from the start, and it only got stronger as she made her way into adulthood.

The actress made her acting debut in the 1970 film “Joe.” Shortly after, she went on to appear on television before later starring as Janet Weiss in the musical comedy horror film “The Rocky Horror Picture Show.”

She’s been in several other notable films, including “The Witches of Eastwick,” “Lorenzo’s Oil,” “The Client,” and “Little Women.” However, to this day, Sarandon’s most recognized film is 1991’s “Thelma & Louise,” in which she starred alongside Geena Davis. The movie was praised for championing sisterhood and friendship, which the two female leads portrayed fantastically.

At 77, Sarandon has continued to show off her beautiful physique while exuding confidence, which her daughter, Eva Amurri, has inherited. On Amurri’s wedding day, critics slammed her for wearing a plunging wedding dress, deemed by people online to be “inappropriate” and provocative. Keep reading to learn more about Amurri’s wedding.

Sarandon is a proud mother who had children late in her life. She had her first child – lifestyle blogger and actress Amurri – in 1985. Sarandon welcomed her second child – director and writer Jack Henry Robbins – in 1989 and her third child – musician and actor Miles Robbins – in 1992.

According to People, Sarandon has no regrets about how or when she became a mother. Speaking about the worst advice she was ever given, the actress shared:

“I think it was, ‘Don’t have the baby,’ as though it would ruin my career, and I was so old anyway,” she said. “I had my first baby at 39 and my third at 45, and with each child, (people were) like, ‘Are you crazy? Don’t!’”

On June 29, 2024, Sarandon’s eldest, Amurri, tied the knot with her chef partner, Ian Hock, in New York's Hudson Valley.

“We really wanted to center our little family unit in all of it, and make it as much about the kids as it was about us,” Eva told People. “We worked with our officiant to craft a ceremony that felt super personal and intimate, and then focused on our second love of life: food! All we really needed was the beautiful atmosphere, our nearest and dearest, and a delicious party.”

Amurri and Hock exchanged their vows in front of an intimate crowd of 40 guests. They wed in a “French garden party”-inspired ceremony that featured “lots of natural colors that mimic the environment at the estate, with little pops of whimsy with the chamomile flowers and hints of pale green and pale blue.”

Unlike other weddings, Amurri was confident that she could pull off without getting help from a wedding planner, describing that her “biggest goal” was to do exactly what they wanted.

On Instagram, Amurri shared photos of her beautiful wedding.

“It’s hard to put into words what Saturday was like other than just saying “magical”. The rain was uninvited…but perfect. We were surrounded by so much love. The day felt like time stood still for us. Joy was abundant. So many happy tears,” she wrote on the caption. “Our families came together into a perfectly imperfect blended bubble of love and memories. We laughed so so much. We danced. Renewal was in the air.”

While everyone seemed thrilled for the newlyweds, people on the internet found something to comment on Amurri’s wedding—her wedding dress.

“Inappropriate dress,” one user declared, echoing others who found Amurri’s gown too revealing.

“Don't like Bridal gown too much Exposed,” another remarked.

"The dress is tasteless," another described, following another user’s comment: "What a tacky dress for a 40 year [old's] second marriage."

Some even called the dress “nasty” and “vulgar” for its plunging neckline,

“REMINDS ME OF EGGS SITTING IN A CARTON. JUST ROUND PERCHED UP THERE. VERY UNFLATTERING - NO CLEAVAGE. IMO,” one described Amurri.

“Could that dress be any more ridiculous? I hope they didn’t pay money for that,” one wondered.

“What kind of example are you setting for your children?? Being half naked at your wedding,” another user pointed out.

However, some consoled Amurri for her choice.

“I make it a point to let every bride I see, know that they are the most beautiful bride ever when I get the chance. How horrible it would be for this bride to read these horrible comments,” one wrote.

“Can we *please* have a moment for how beautiful the bodice of your dress is and how it looks even more stunning without the distraction of a necklace?! GORGEOUS! Congratulations! 🥂 💍 🌧️,” another greeted.
