Study Examines If Women's Brain Structure Is Changed After A Pregnancy
Nov 06, 2018
If you think that your brain is stuck on some of the thoughts and feelings that you had while pregnant, you're not alone. The brain that you have while pregnant could last for a few years instead of going away when your baby is born. When you're pregnant, you might forget to do things during the day. You might not be able to sleep as you did before getting pregnant.
There are times when you can't concentrate on anything but your baby or trying to eat healthy instead of the normal things in your life that you once thought about. Sometimes, you walk into a room only to forget what you wanted. This is the new normal way of thinking that many pregnant women experience, and it doesn't go away after the baby is born.

After delivery, you think that life will get back to normal and that you'll be able to think for yourself once again. That's just not true for many women. As a study published by the Nature Neuroscience Journal discovered that women likely still have the same pregnancy brain and forget the important details unless they are related to their child.
It's often blamed on sleep deprivation because you're up and down all night with your baby and you're not getting as much sleep as you did before you got pregnant. As you have more children, you find that you're doing things in the middle of the night or during the day without really knowing how you got to that part of the house.
Being pregnant and raising children changes your thought process. Some people tend to blame those changes on the hormones that run through the body while they are pregnant while others just blame it on stress or a lack of sleep. Other women accept the new way of life and make adjustments.
Nature Neuroscience's Study shows that the brain is impacted by the changes that the body experiences during pregnancy, which is why many women experience these feelings for years after having a baby instead of the feelings going away shortly after delivery.
