Some Claim Kurt Russell’s Forgotten First Wife Is Better Than His Lovely Partner Of Over 40 Years, Goldie Hawn

Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell are among Hollywood's most enduring couples. For more than four decades together, the pair have built a beautiful, blended family full of talented individuals.

Hawn and Russell have an adorable and loving relationship. Their obvious affection for each other is more akin to a pair of teenage sweethearts than a couple together for 41 years. While both Hawn and Russell had previous marriages before becoming a couple, they have never married each other. Instead, they have enjoyed and are still enjoying a long-lasting and fulfilling relationship—even without exchanging vows.

The couple is also well known for their big family, which consists of Hawn's two children from her previous marriage, Oliver Hudson and Kate Hudson, Kurt Russell's son from his previous marriage, Boston Russell, and a shared son named Wyatt Russell. Unsurprisingly, most of their children have followed their famous acting parents into show business and have also gone on to have their children, making Hawn and Russell grandparents.

Many people have wondered how Hawn and Russell have managed to have such a happy and long-lasting relationship, especially in Hollywood. 

Hawn has been the only woman widely associated with Russell for so long because of how inseparable and committed they are to each other. However, forgotten by many, Russell was once married to Season Hubley, a well-known actress in the 1970s and early 1980s. 

As the years went by, people began to re-discover Hubley and Russell’s short-lived marriage, and they claimed that she was better and prettier than Hawn. Keep reading to learn more about Hubley and her relationship with Russell. 

Even though they have been married and have been together for 41 years, Hawn and Russell have no plans to marry again. Hawn openly discussed the topic in a 2007 Woman's Day magazine interview. When asked why they won't head down the aisle, Hawn responded: 

"Because we have done just perfectly without marrying. I already feel devoted and isn't that what marriage is supposed to do? So as long as my emotional state is in a state of devotion, honesty, caring and loving, then we're fine."

In 2015, she said:

"I would have been long divorced if I'd been married. Marriage is an interesting psychological thing. If you need to feel bound to someone, then it's important to be married. If you have independence, if you have enough money and sense of independence and you like your independence, there's something psychological about not being married because it gives you the freedom to make decisions one way or the other. For me, I chose to stay. Kurt chose to stay, and we like the choice."

Russell also discussed what matters in his relationship with the Daily Mail in 2018. He said:

"Everyone has their marker on what is really important and where you draw the line. For Goldie and me, that core value was this: the kids come first."

Regarding the secrets behind their long-lasting love, Russell and Hawn explained to Parade in November 2020 that it boils down to the intention to be happy and purpose – and a little bit of fun doesn't hurt either.

"It's not about what you do, it's how you do it," Hawn explained as Russell added, "Goldie can literally physically walk away sometimes and make me laugh. She's funny by nature. She just… is."

At 73, Russell has only been married once. The prolific actor married Hubley in 1979, who was well-known during the 1970s and early 1980s. Hubley had notable roles in films like “Hardcore,” “Escape from New York,” “Vice Squad,” and the beloved soap opera drama “All My Children.” 

She and Russell played Elvis and Priscilla Presley on the silver screen in the 1979 biographical film, “Elvis,” for the King of Rock and Roll. 

A year after their marriage, Hubley gave birth to Boston Russell, Russell’s eldest son and only child from the actress. Unfortunately, Hubley and Russell’s marriage did not work out well, and they divorced in 1983. 

Unlike Russell, Hubley retreated from the limelight and opted for a quieter life away from the glitz and glamor of Hollywood. Per her IMDB profile, her last known media credit was in 1999, when she starred as Sarah Gorban in “Flipper.” Since then, Hubley has not appeared in any movie or television series. 

Although she has stepped away from the limelight, some people have remembered her on social media and have compared her to Hawn, Russell’s partner of 40 years. Comparing their looks, many have pointed out that Hubley is more beautiful than Hawn. 

However, a majority of people have come to an agreement that both actresses are beautiful in their own right. At the same time, some are more convinced that Hawn’s personality and iconic smile give her an edge–making her more loveable and likable by many. 

For 40 years, Russell and Hawn’s love has stayed strong, and the actor has played an instrumental role in the lives of Hawn’s children—Kate and Oliver—who both have a strained relationship with their biological father, Bill Hudson.
