Single Parent Charlize Theron Criticized For ‘Distasteful’ & ‘Desperate’ Outfit During Fashion Show Appearance With Her Daughter

Charlize Theron is, without a doubt, a bona fide Hollywood star who has cemented her place in the upper echelons of the film industry. She worked her way up to become one of the highest-paid actresses in the business, as well as a renowned producer since launching her own production company in 2003. 

According to the Daily Mail, Charlize was discovered by a talent agent who was standing next to her in line at the bank. The bank cashier had refused to let Charlize cash a check, and she had a heated argument when she caught the attention of the agent.

Soon after, Charlize’s career took flight. To secure her role in 1997’s “The Devil’s Advocate,” the actress had to audition six times. The Daily Mail reported that she stopped grooming herself and slept less just so she could fit the role of a haunted, haggard wife. It all proved to be worth it, as the movie is now credited to be her break-out film. She won her first Academy Award in 2004 for her role as serial killer Aileen Wuornos in the 2003 film “Monster.” 

In a previous interview, Charlize said that her dream was never as big as what she had, and she added that the greatest thing she learned in her career journey is that “if you come in with your own agenda, and with your own ego and you try to kind of force something and control something, you cannot make a good movie.”

After working in the industry for many years, the actress already had countless films under her belt, including “Atomic Blonde,” “The Old Guard,” “Sweet November,” and many more.

However, Charlize has been criticized in the past and received negative feedback for her outfit at a fashion show in September 2023.

Aside from being an actress, Charlize is also a proud mom to her two children, Jackson Theron and August Theron.

In an interview with People Magazine published in May 2018, Charlize said the thing that makes her the happiest is being a mom to her two children, as they both make her laugh.

Both of her kids were not biological, as Jackson was adopted in 2012, while she finally became the legal parent of August in 2015. 

The actress revealed that she always wanted to be a mother, and one of the main reasons why was because of her exposure to orphanages and children in need in South Africa when she was younger.

Although she really wanted to have kids, Charlize always believed that her children would be adopted. “Even when I was in relationships, I was always honest with my partners, that adoption was how my family would look one day… This was definitely not a second option for me. It was always my first,” she said.

Charlize was the only child of her parents, and even though she knew a sibling rivalry would be possible in the future if she had more than one kid, she still decided to adopt two as a single parent.

The actress spoke more about Jackson and August in an interview with NPR as she said, “Everything that I hoped would happen during my adoption process did happen because these two babies were meant to be in my life — and they're my children.”

About her decision to become a single parent, Charlize said the concept of it should still be focused on because society already dictated what “the ‘right’ family or a ‘strong’ family or what we think that should look like.”

In September 2023, Charlize Theron attended the Dior Spring/Summer 2024 fashion show during Paris Fashion Week along with her daughter, Jackson. She was among the celebrities who were present at the event alongside Jenna Ortega, Jennifer Lawrence, and many more.

All eyes were on Charlize as she made a bold fashion choice. According to Harper’s Bazaar, The top half of her outfit looked innocent as she only wore a simple white button-down top, but her dress was the one that caught the attention of the public.

The actress wore a gold net maxi skirt intricately detailed with gems. Since the bottom was designed to resemble a net, the lower part of her body could be seen from the outside. She finished her look with a pair of black footwear and black underwear.

Charlize took to her official Instagram account to share photos of her look, and many fans seemed to have loved the ensemble. “so gorgeous charlize, we love this content so much YOURE GLOWING 💜” one wrote. “I hope you enjoyed it as you deserve! You were stunning! 💛✨” another wrote. “So Beautiful ❤️❤️❤️… love the stunningly beautiful angel,” someone commented.

Although there were positive comments about her look, some also seemed to have not liked the idea of Charlize wearing a see-through skirt.

In a post by JustJared, one user commented, “She forgot half the dress,” while another user added, “Imagine your mom showing up to an event with her panties showing..”

“It is distasteful and desperate,” another wrote, while someone else chimed, "Shame on her!"

Despite the hate, there were still people who defended the actress, as one wrote, “She looks stunning. For those commenting negatively on her attire, she's attending a haute couture fashion show in Paris, she's not grocery shopping.”
