Shelter Dog Jumps Into UPS Driver’s Truck, And The Dog’s Life Immediately Changes Forever
Dec 13, 2018
Ernie is a young pit bull-terrier mix who is sweet, lovable, and charming. However, Ernie had some trouble getting adopted from the shelter he was living in. The shelter had even lowered his adoption fees in order to entice a loving family to adopt him for good.
The City of Buffalo Animal Shelter was where Ernie lived for months on end. The shelter even put a video out on their Facebook page, explaining all the reasons Ernie would make the perfect pet for the right family. They still did not receive any applications.

Cindy Grisanti is a volunteer who helps out at the shelter. She was out walking Ernie in October of 2018 when they ran into Jason Coronado, a UPS driver.
Coronado was sitting in his truck taking a short break. Ernie spotted him and started to wag his tail. Coronado called him up into the truck and the dog eagerly jumped in. When Ernie laid his head down in Coronado’s lap, the driver’s heart just melted.
Coronado said that a lot of dogs do not like his big brown truck, but Ernie was completely comfortable sitting in it. He fell in love with the young dog right then and there, and you could tell that Ernie felt the same as him. Coronado said that he did not want to get out.
A few minutes later, Ernie and Grisanti said goodbye and finished up their walk. Coronado spent the next couple of weeks hoping that Ernie would find a good home.
A month later, Coronado was scrolling through Facebook when he saw a post from the shelter. The lovable pup still needed a forever home. That is when he realized that he wanted to adopt Ernie. After getting the green light from his kids and significant other, they all went to the shelter to officially adopt him. Ernie was thrilled to finally get a family of his own!
Ernie is still as happy as can be at his new home. He enjoys cuddling and playing with his human family. Coronado says he loves to eat treats, sleep, and sit in his lap. He claims that he is the “perfect dog.”
We are so glad that Ernie decided to jump into Coronado’s truck and introduce himself that day. We love that he has his own family who will love him forever! What did you think of this heartwarming story? Tell us in the comments and then pass this along to others!
