School Nurse Is Begging Parents To Donate Feminine Products For Kids Who Can't Afford Them
Aug 17, 2018
When a young girl gets her first period, she is often embarrassed about it. It can be hard for them to talk to their parents about it. Sometimes they even go without the products they need because they are too nervous to speak about their body's changes. Their are other reasons a young girl may not have feminine products as well. Some family's simple aren't able to afford these products for their children.
A school nurse, after having a conversation with a particular girl, found out that she wasn't able to afford her own feminine products. This sparked something in the nurse's brain. She came up with a feminine product drive, where parents would donate products to the school.
She shared her idea with Reddit, and the community was very supportive. She decided to run with her idea and discuss it with parents.

The nurse told Reddit that she worked in a school that did not provide feminine products to their students. She said that she talked to girls everyday who needed these products but had to do without. She confessed that many of the girls are just ill-prepared for womanhood; however, there were countless girls whose families weren't providing these products for them.
She discussed the school's variety of other altruistic programs, like free school lunch and other food drives. Reddit encouraged her to move forward with her idea and she did.
She also explained that she was using her own money to buy tampons and pads for these girls. This obviously isn't within the responsibilities of a school nurse, but someone had to do it. With the help of parents, this school nurse will soon be able to provide for her students in a much more effective manner.
The nurse went back to Reddit to edit her original post. She shared a conversation with a certain girl, who lived at home with just her father. The girl came in and told the nurse that she needed a tampon.
The nurse offered her what she had but explained that she was running low. Later in the conversation, the girl revealed that she didn't have any feminine products at home.
