School Bus Driver Laid To Rest In Yellow Casket Crafted To Look Like Bus He Drove For 55 Years

Feb 25, 2020

Glen Davis drove a school bus for the Grand Meadow School District, near Rochester, Minnesota for 55 years and became knows by pupils as 'Glennie' over the years.

His dying wish was that he be put to rest in a casket designed like the school vehicle he loved driving so much. When he passed away recently at age 88, Davis's wish was granted.

Glen started his job as a bus driver back in 1949, which was the year that he himself graduated high school. While busing children around might not seem like the best job, it quickly became exactly what Glen needed in his life. He would continue to drive until he retired in 2005.

Driving in his own hometown near Rochester, Minnesota, Glen got the chance to not only drive the children of his schoolmates but also their grandchildren along with his own relatives.

After his retirement, Glen accepted that he would eventually pass away. His one request was that he be buried in a casket that would commemorate the job that he loved so much. He wanted to be put in a casket that looked just like a Grand Meadow School District bus and even went so far as to have it specially made while he was still alive.

At age 88, Glen passed away. While everyone is sorry to see this beloved man go, it is wonderful to know that he lived such a good, long life that was complete with a job that he adored and children who considered him to be a best friend. Now, Glen can rest in peace.

Glen was an inspiring and passionate man who will be greatly missed by the pupils he transported safely for years. Pass this heartwarming story on to others in your social network and remind them how wonderful life can be.
