Salma Hayek Has No Plans To Stop Posting Bikini Pictures: 'I Have No Shame On It'
Apr 06, 2023
Salma Hayek is one of the most successful and gorgeous actresses on the planet, but Hayek led a rather humble life in her native Mexico before she was famous. Having worked on her craft since the age of 18, Hayek's passion for acting eventually propelled her into the stratosphere. Although she's at the top, she still finds time to advocate for causes that she's passionate about. She's most known for her work in combating domestic violence against women, as well as her advocacy for immigrants and charity work in helping disadvantaged children in Mexico.
While Hayek's known to be one of the most beautiful actresses working in Hollywood, she's now 57 years old and looks rather different than in her younger years, but she's still every bit as gorgeous. From her upbringing to finding stardom, the 57-year-old actress is still in incredible shape.
Known for her famous appearance in the 1996 movie "From Dusk Till Dawn," many fans love Hayek for the scene in which she danced with an Albino Burmese Python Reticulus on her shoulders while wearing a brown bikini that left little to the imagination.
Now a mother of one daughter, Hayek is still strutting around in bikinis in her 50s. On her Instagram, Hayek shamelessly posts bikini photos, and according to her, she's not stopping anytime soon. The actress frequently takes to Instagram to post both throwback photos, as well as new photos of herself and her busy life. Read on to learn more about Hayek's past and her unapologetic attitude toward posting bikini pics at the age of 57.
Born on Sep. 2, 1966, in Coatzacoalcos, Mexico, Salma Hayek once described her childhood as being pretty idyllic. Raised by her mother, Diana, who was an opera singer, and her father, Sami, an oil company executive, she also had a brother named Sami. She told The Guardian:
"It was a close community, we lived near the ocean and we would be outside all the time with the neighbours' kids, running free, playing football on the streets and at the beach. What better place could there be for a child?"
In another interview with O, The Oprah Magazine, Hayek detailed her close relationship with her grandmother, Maria Luisa Lopez, describing her as her "greatest inspiration." A scientist who Hayek said was ahead of her time said, "I still have her inside of me and I always will."
Despite her calling to become a star, Hayek enrolled at the Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City but dropped out soon after, to the dismay of her family. But she knew that acting was what she was destined to do, so she stuck with her decision.
Well, it didn't take long for the decision to pay off — after getting her first part playing Jasmine in a theater production of "Aladdin" for kids, Hayek went on to bigger things, landing her first TV gig in 1988 on "Nuevo Amanecer." The following year she got the titular role in "Teresa," a telenovela that catapulted her to fame at the tender age of 22, making her one of Mexico's biggest soap opera stars.

Not satisfied with what she'd achieved in her native Mexico, Hayek set her sights on Hollywood. One of the reasons for her desire to work in an industry outside of Mexico was to appear in films in which Mexico didn't have much of an industry. Despite the odds against her, Hayek packed up her things, landed in Los Angeles in 1991, and began acting lessons with the renowned actress and teacher Stella Adler.
On top of moving to a foreign country, learning the language, and having to build her career once again, Salma Hayek has talked about the racism she faced upon arriving in the United States. She was told she'd never work and that she'd be limited to playing a maid. In an interview with NPR, she said, "I have had to fight, very, very hard for every little mediocre part I ever got."
In another interview with O, The Oprah Magazine, Hayek talked about being one of the first Latin women in the mainstream Hollywood industry:
"Because there was no industry or parts for Latin women when I came here, there was really no competitiveness. Jennifer Lopez and I were the first, and I think Jennifer was my partner at the beginning."
Knowing how difficult it was to make that move, Hayek was there to support her friend Penélope Cruz when Cruz did the same.
"I got here with a ticket to make a movie, I had my return ticket, so I was coming here for two months and I didn't know anyone here," Cruz said. Hayek was extremely kind and even offered to give Cruz a ride from the airport to her hotel.
Just the gesture alone made it known that Hayek is an extremely nice friend. “She picked me up at the airport and she said, 'You're not going to a hotel, you're coming to my house because this is hard at the beginning and you're going to feel very lonely,’” Cruz remembered. She added, “So — she took me to her house. That's why now we're like sisters."
The two actresses have been extremely close ever since. The two even went on to star in “Bandidas,” which came out in 2006. Hayek has posted online a few times to show off the pair's bond. One year she posted, “Now for real happy birthday 👑P Ahora si feliz cumpleaños a mi adorada amiga @penelopecruzofficial 🎂💃🏾🎈,” she wrote.
Hayek also posted that a good friend like Cruz can be hard to find. “Good #friends# are forever Los buenos #amigos son para siempre,” she posted.
It’s clear that Hayek is incredibly kind toward others – especially her family and friends. There’s no denying that Hayek has helped pave the way for future aspiring actresses. She is also a great role model to her daughter, Valentina Paloma Pinault. Sharing the same birthday month as her mom, Hayek’s daughter, Valentina, was born on Sep. 21, 2007.
Like many A-list celebrities, Hayek rarely posts pictures of her daughter on her social media accounts, preferring instead to keep her underage child out of the public eye, as per HELLO! Magazine.
But for Valentina's birthday in September 2022, the "Grown Ups" star took to her favorite social networking site to commemorate her only child entering her teenage years by sharing throwback photos.
Hayek shared one photo that showed her late into her pregnancy and one of her carrying Valentina as a newborn. "Tomorrow the tiny baby that formed inside my womb officially becomes a teen. They grow so fast," she captioned the first picture with a translation in Spanish.
In the second photo, posted on the day of Valentina's 13th birthday, Hayek was seen carrying her newborn daughter while looking out the window. Both dressed in white, the mother and daughter looked angelic.
The award-winning actress opened up about their mother-daughter dynamic in Vogue Mexico in 2022.
"We fight over clothes because she takes everything from my closet," Hayek said, adding, "Since she was little she never let me choose her clothes, and I always liked that… she's very good with makeup. I'm good at makeup, but now she teaches me."
In another interview with HOLA!, Hayek revealed that although they are not very similar personality-wise, Valentina seemed to inherit her innate ability to be confident in front of the camera.
“In my family, everyone is very confident, graceful and light. Valentina and I are the ones who panic on stage. But she gets in front of the camera with no problem!”
Hayek loves her daughter very much and also looks up to her as well. As many children of stars do, Valentina wants to make an impact on big screens too. Trying to follow in her mother's footsteps, Valentina has expressed dreams of being an actress before eventually, hopefully, one day, also becoming a world-famous director.
Valentina, in a rare appearance with her mother, stunned everyone when she appeared to be “twinning” with her on the champagne carpet at the 2023 Oscars, which is a dream come true event for any person hoping to become a filmmaker or an actor in the future.
To make her first Oscars event more special, her mother’s team pulled out a special dress from the box.
In an Instagram post by Rebecca Corbin-Murray, Hayek’s stylist, she revealed that the dress that Valentina wore was actually an outfit that the “Eternals” actress wore back then at the 1997 Fire and Ice Ball, ten years before her daughter was actually born.
“We pulled this beautiful Isaac Mizrahi dress for Valentina from Salma’s archive. Swipe to see when Salma originally wore it in 1997,” she said in the caption.
Valentina partnered her vintage dress with a skinny silver necklace and a metallic mini Gucci Jackie 1961 bag, British Vogue reported.
On the other hand, Hayek is a testament that her beauty is timeless. Then aged 56, the actress was dressed in a bombshell red Gucci dress, one of her favorite fashion houses, glistening with red copper sequins.
Hayek proves that our age is nothing to fear and that women are truly beautiful no matter how old they are. But it is probably easy to feel confident in your own skin when you have a gorgeous face and a killer figure like she does! Hayek has always been a captivating woman that has mesmerized the world with her looks and acting talent.
Hayek is a regular user of Instagram, sharing pictures and videos on her main feed almost daily — sometimes multiple times in a day. Besides the many pictures she posts of her with fellow celebrities and friends, and those about political and charity causes, Hayek regularly publishes sultry snaps of herself.
In June 2020, the actress had everyone talking when she posted a makeup-free selfie on her social media account. Commenters were quick to claim that she was the most beautiful woman alive, and going off her photos while taking into account how incredibly well she is aging, it is near impossible to argue otherwise. Surrounded by luscious green leaves, the Mexican-American beauty posed amongst them, with her dark brown hair worn down in waves while her face was bare without a trace of makeup.
She captioned the post: "#selfiesunday #nofilter #nature." After the picture was posted, women's news and lifestyle site The List described her as looking “more stunning than ever.” The List also shared that even though she is “hailed as one of the most beautiful women in the world,” Hayek still struggles with body-image confidence sometimes. Clearly aware of her beauty and how the industry is cutthroat about women's looks, Hayek has spoken up before about the topic.
In a 2016 interview with Harper's Bazaar magazine, she discussed getting older and how body confidence changes on a daily basis. She said:
"I am entering my fifties so your body confidence isn’t that good. I think it depends on the day, for everybody, there’s some days you say, ‘This is it,’ and you love it. Then there are days when you go, ‘This can not be it! Is this really it?’ So I think it’s up and down all the time!"
And then, in April 2020, the bombshell actress spoke up about having insecurities of her own, especially when she was younger. In an interview with People from earlier that year, she explained:
"When I look at pictures of me in my 30s or in my 40s, I see myself more beautiful than I saw myself at the time … I used to criticize myself so much. Now when I look in the mirror and there are things that I don't see, I think about how much I'm going to like me in 10 years."
Now that Hayek is older and well-established, she has been actively posting on her Instagram. With a mix of old and new photos, the 57-year-old is still posting bikini pics unapologetically. According to an interview with ET, Hayek said it was "liberating" to take photos in her bikini again:
"I had to lose a lot of weight and exercise to get into the bikini towards the end of last year. I'm glad I took a lot of pictures, I have no shame on it, because it was the first week of the vacation."
Hayek posted quite a few photos of herself wearing different bikinis during December 2020 and January 2021. One from December 2020 revealed that Hayek was “grateful for being healthy.” Another photo from January 2021 showed Hayek enjoying a dip in some beautifully serene water. And another post from the same time showed the actress connecting with nature as she looked very peaceful and relaxed in the sand in one photo and the water in another.
We have no doubt that Hayek will continue to be a true icon.
