Rumer Willis Reveals Her Pregnancy Cravings & Hopes Her Future Child Inherits Her Family’s ‘Goofiness’

Bruce Willis is best known for his time as an actor. Sadly, the star announced his retirement on March 30, 2022, but has since received plenty of support from his fans, friends and family members. Bruce had been a pivotal figure in the acting world for more than 40 years, which is why fans and loved ones were left heartbroken when they heard the news that he was retiring. During his acting career, Bruce appeared in a variety of films and television shows. Some of his most popular films include "Pulp Fiction," "Armageddon," "The Sixth Sense," "Looper" and the "Die Hard" franchise.

Bruce has been married two times and is the father of five daughters. He first married actress Demi Moore in 1987, and the two had three daughters together: Rumer Willis, Scout Willis and Tallulah Willis. Although the couple was regarded as a Hollywood powerhouse, they ended up divorcing in 2000 but have remained good friends and great co-parents ever since.

Rumer has gone on to become a star in her own right. Born on Aug. 16, 1988, Rumer grew up with a similar love for the entertainment industry, just like her famous parents. She has appeared in films and TV shows, including “Hostage,” “The House Bunny,” “Sorority Row,” “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” and “90210.”

Now, Rumer is in an emotional time in her life as she is currently pregnant with her first child with her partner, musician Derek Richard Thomas. In April 2023, the 34-year-old actress disclosed what her pregnancy has been like, including all of her cravings and her hopes for her future child.

On Dec. 20, 2022, Moore’s eldest daughter Rumer took to social media to announce her impending pregnancy with her partner Thomas with a carousel of black and white photos. One photo showed Thomas giving Rumer’s baby bump a kiss, and another with his face full of joy and excitement. A third photo showed Rumer’s silhouette with the bump in full view as she stood by a window.

The child will be Willis and Moore’s first grandchild. The photos were reposted by proud mom Moore, who delightfully captioned her post, “Entering my hot kooky unhinged grandma era 🌱”

In March 2023, Rumer and Thomas had a baby shower in LA that was thrown by Moore, Scout and Tallulah, as reported by PEOPLE. The parents-to-be performed together at the intimate party. And during an appearance on the "Bathroom Chronicles" podcast in February 2023, Rumer revealed that being a mom was something she always wanted.

"It's like one of those weird things that I know sometimes people have such clarity about, like 'Oh, I want to be a musician, I want this,' and it was never a question for me that I wanted to be a mom," she said. 

She added, "And that just felt like such a divine purpose and something that when I started thinking about it, felt like such joy."

Speaking with PEOPLE in April 2023, Rumer talked about what her pregnancy has been like. She called the experience “humbling” and mentioned that she could already feel her baby moving. She’s also been reading books to prepare for her future motherhood and called herself a “birth junkie” as she geared up to welcome her first child.

Rumer shared, “… It's wild. It's the wildest experience, even more so than I ever thought of.”

The actress also explained how she doesn’t know the sex of the baby yet, but has some “interesting, unique, and different” names picked out.

Like most pregnant people, Rumer has experienced some weird cravings. She told PEOPLE, “Sauerkraut, strawberry ice cream and lemonade. Super cheap lemonade. I'm obsessed.”

The actress mentioned how lucky she was to be surrounded by such a loving and supportive family. "I'm so grateful that I'm so close with my family and I get to rely on them for support," Rumer said. "It's fun to be bringing in the first grandkid in our family, especially because we're such a huge group at this point."

Looking ahead, Rumer talked about what she hopes her future child will be like. She wondered if her baby would share that natural “goofiness” that she said she got from Bruce and Moore. “We’re a family of weirdos, and I love that so much,” Rumer said. “I really hope that that is engendered in this child. That’s my favorite thing, laughing with my family.”

Rumer talked about how she couldn’t wait to become a mother and said:

“I just can't wait to meet them. I'm just so delighted. I feel sometimes I can just feel the energy of this kid sometimes, and I just can't wait to hear them laugh, to figure out who they are, play with them and get to know them.”
