May 16, 2023
Bruce Willis is best known for his time as an actor. Sadly, the star announced his retirement on Mar. 30, 2022, but has since received plenty of support from his fans, friends, and family members. Bruce had been a pivotal figure in the acting world for more than 40 years, which is why fans and loved ones were left heartbroken when they heard the news that he was retiring. During his acting career, Bruce appeared in a variety of films and television shows. Some of his most popular films include “Pulp Fiction,” “Armageddon,” “The Sixth Sense,” “Looper” and the “Die Hard” franchise.
Bruce has been married twice and is the father of five. He married actress Demi Moore in 1987, and the two had three daughters together: Rumer Willis, Scout Willis, and Tallulah Willis. Although the couple was regarded as a Hollywood powerhouse, they ended up divorcing in 2000 but have remained good friends and great co-parents ever since.
Rumer has gone on to become a star in her own right. Born on Aug. 16, 1988, Rumer grew up with a similar love for the entertainment industry, just like her famous parents. She has appeared in films and TV shows, including “Hostage,” “The House Bunny,” “Sorority Row,” “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood,” and “90210.”
With Bruce going through health struggles after being diagnosed with dementia, the Willis household is in need of a light of joy in their lives. After a very public pregnancy, Rumer welcomed her first daughter on Apr. 18, 2023. The newborn’s arrival was shared in an Instagram post that garnered more than 300,000 likes and thousands of comments and well wishes. On the occasion of Mother’s Day, Rumer celebrated her foray into motherhood by penning a moving message to her beloved daughter.
On Apr. 5, 2023, Rumer sat down with PEOPLE to talk about the impending birth that she said had given her family a welcome boost during such a challenging time. She said she hoped her child would be imbued with the same “goofiness” inherent in her family.
“We’re a family of weirdos, and I love that so much. I really hope that that is engendered in this child. That’s my favorite thing, laughing with my family,” she told the outlet.
Rumer said she chose not to know the sex of the baby ahead of the birth, but did plan to follow in her mother’s footsteps and opted for a home birth.
“I think it was always my plan to do it unmedicated. That’s how my mom did it, and I grew up knowing that,” she revealed.
On Apr. 18, 2023, Rumer gave birth to Bruce and Moore’s first grandchild. In an Instagram post announcing her birth, Rumer delighted her followers, friends, and family members with the first photo of her beautiful daughter.
“✨ Louetta Isley Thomas Willis ✨ You are pure magic 🌱,” Rumer wrote in the caption. “Born at home on Tuesday Apr. 18. You are more than we ever dreamed of ✨”
Louetta’s first photo showed her sleeping with one hand up to her head and one under her chin, with a full head of dark hair and nestled in a cream-knitted pillow.
Her cuteness is undeniable in the said photo, sending some of her relatives’ hearts fluttering at the sight of her.
Rumer’s stepmother, Emma Hemming, commented on the post: “Omg we love her so so much 😍😍😍😍😍” Moore, on the other hand, confessed her love for her first grandchild in the same post:
“Pure love for this little birdie ❤️.”

On May 14, 2023, Rumer marked her first Mother’s Day as a mom herself by penning a heartfelt tribute to her first child in an Instagram post alongside adorable photos with the baby and during delivery.
“I have waited and dreamed of you my whole life. You are more than I could have ever imagined. You have changed my life in the most profound way. It is the privilege and honor of my life to be your Mother and I will do everything and anything for you always,” she wrote.
The photos included one of Rumer in a tub with her “most precious girl Lou” as well as mom and daughter dozing in bed together.
“I can’t wait to see who you are, although I feel like I have known you my whole life. One of the first things i said after you were born was ‘oh my girl, I missed you’ I didn’t even realize I had said it… I feel like i have always known you and you me,” Rumer continued.
Rumer had opted for a water birth and also shared photos of her sisters Tallulah and Scout, as well as her partner Derek Richard Thomas, supporting her during the delivery.
“Every moment and contraction and every bit of the pain of birth was worth it and I would do it a thousand times over if it means getting to spend one sec with you,” she wrote.
She thanked Thomas for “giving me the gift of this beautiful soul and for catching our girl as she came into the world and for holding such beautiful space for me as I brought her into the world,” and ended the message with:
“I love you my girl you are the greatest joy and gift of my life.”
Happy first Mother’s Day to Rumer! How adorable are the photos and message she shared to mark the occasion? If you liked them, be sure to pass this on to family and friends, too.
