Rescuers Untangle And Release Large Hawk Stuck In Baseball Field Net

Sep 09, 2020

In this video from 2019, two hero officers in Marlborough, Massachusetts saved the day for a lucky hawk. The entangled bird of prey was stuck in a baseball batting cage field net, before Lt. Thomas Bryant and Animal Control Officer Brittani Carbone worked hard to free the hawk.

It took a little bit of time, but the officers finally got it free. One officer finally sweetly cradled the bird in his arms as he came down from the net. He then walked out to the field with the hawk in his arms.

The officer gets ready to release the hawk saying to the cameraman, "There ya go, big boy. Are you ready?" He tries to release it, but the hawk only flies a few feet before gently getting back to the ground. He seems content.

The other officer jokes, "Now he's gonna attack you." The other laughs, "He ain't gonna attack us, he's going to catch his breath." It's true. The hawk seems to show its appreciation by just staring at the two men. It seems thankful that it's back to the ground. After a few seconds, it's time to fly back into its territory.

Thanks to these hero officers, the hawk is safe and back in its habitat.

The police department had a little fun with posting the story on their Facebook, “Sorry Hudson, we won’t be so nice to the Hawks on Thanksgiving,” mentioning their upcoming rivalry football games against the Hudson Hawks. The officers will be kind to most birds, but rival mascot birds just don't count.

Thank you to these wonderful officers for protecting such special wildlife. They did a great job helping this sweet bird and saving the day. Have you ever helped out a bird or other animal in need?
