Reese Witherspoon Twinning With Daughter Ava On ‘Perfect Summer Night’

Much has been made about how much Reese Witherspoon’s daughter, Ava Phillippe, looks like a mini-me version of her, and she proved this was still very much the case in a sweet snap with her kids. But – surprise, surprise – Ava isn’t the only one to have inherited her mother’s good looks! 

Known as one of Hollywood’s hottest couples of the late 1990s into the early 2000s, Witherspoon made headlines when she married “Cruel Intentions” co-star Ryan Phillippe in 1999. They have since gone on to have incredible Hollywood careers and fulfilling personal lives. They met at Witherspoon’s 21st birthday party and were together for nearly 10 years before separating in 2007.

Witherspoon is best known for her roles in the films “Legally Blonde,” along with “Walk The Line” and “Sweet Home Alabama,” as well as the TV series “Big Little Lies” and "The Morning Show." With a knack for both romance and comedy, she has accomplished much as both an actress and as a producer. 

Witherspoon and Phillippe have two children together, daughter Ava and son Deacon Reese Phillippe. Raising children in the public eye is never easy. This talented family has been through a lot throughout their time together, but Witherspoon and Ryan have done a great job taking care of their kids. Everyone seems to be thriving and really coming into their own. 

Deacon has already begun his own music career as a producer and released his first single. He has graduated high school and keeps himself busy with creative projects on the side.

Ava has a striking resemblance to her mother, and it seems like she also has the potential to enter show business just like her two famous parents. As she grows up, Ava is starting to really find herself and is beginning to express her desires for the future. 

Ava, 23, is often compared to her 47-year-old mother Witherspoon due to their striking resemblance to one another. While many assume the young beauty will likely go on to follow in her stunning mother’s footsteps, the University of California, Berkeley, student said her parents have encouraged her to find her own passions and forge her own path. She told E News:

“My parents have always encouraged me to choose the path that’s right for me and, you know, guide me along the way to make better choices than I might make. I’m so grateful for that. That is such a privilege to have parents that support you in that way and to want you to be who you truly are meant to be. So I think I’m trying to do that.”

It’s clear that Ava is already embarking on her own journey to finding a career for herself. In November 2021, she modeled for Beyoncé’s Ivy Park collection, according to Yahoo News. In December 2021, she became the face of Pat McGrath’s “Bridgerton” themed makeup line. However, the model also said that acting is “not out of the question.”

Despite the media’s focus on the striking similarities between Witherspoon and her daughter, the “Hot Pursuit” star said she and Ava don’t quite see what all the fuss is about. She told the Today Show, “She and I don’t see (the resemblance) that much,” and preferred to focus on what the journey of parenthood had been like. 

“When they’re little… it’s very physical. And then it’s more emotional support. And suggestions, not telling them what to do… But you have to really nurture your adult relationship with your children… give them respect and space to become who they are, not who you want them to be,” Witherspoon added. 

Perhaps Witherspoon and Ava should take a scroll down their Instagram feeds as they’ve both posted numerous photos, some even of them side by side, proving just how similar they look. In August 2021, Witherspoon shared a beautiful makeup-free photo of her with her equally bare-faced daughter Ava and son Deacon – and even he resembled his father as well! The trio looked stunning despite their casual get-up and were the picture of a happy family. Witherspoon captioned the snap, “Gosh, I’m lucky to be their mom 😊️” as fans hit the comments section to say just how much they all looked alike.

“It’s unbelievable how much the daughter looks like her mom & how much the son looks like his dad,” one user commented as another wrote, “Wow you and Ryan’s genes were def fighting over who would look like who.”

“You look more like their sister than their mom Reese! All 3 of you are GORGEOUS human beings to say the least!” a third user remarked.

However, the mother and daughter share more than just similar good looks – they also share an incredible bond. On her birthday on Mar. 22, 2023, Ava took to Instagram to celebrate her mom with a loving post whose caption read:

“I’m lucky enough to call my mama! She is truly a force of nature. While I am endlessly inspired by her and so proud of all she’s accomplished, what I admire most is the way she moves through the world as a curious, considerate, gracious, and loving person. With each year, I find even more reasons to love her, and I am thrilled to celebrate another year of her bright light in my life!”

Witherspoon and Ava showed off their uncanny resemblance again in a post shared on July 23, 2023. Witherspoon gave her fans a behind-the-scenes look as she and Ava prepared for a night out in support of the non-profit conservation organization Oceana. The post comprised three photos, the first being of the mother-daughter duo in their bathrobes getting their makeup and hair done. The second photo was a snap of the dressing table showing the products and jewelry the glam pair were using. The third photo was of Witherspoon and Ava on the “green carpet” for the event standing side by side and looking incredibly chic in their matching strapless summer outfits. Witherspoon captioned the post:

“Perfect Summer night with my girl @avaphillippe 🌊 💗learning all about @oceana incredible conservation work 🌊 ✨🦈”

With the same shade of sunny blonde hair and gorgeous smiles, the pair elicited excited comments about their resemblance from users.

“Your mini-me!❤️” one fan wrote while another commented, “Why does Ava look more like Reese Witherspoon than Reese Witherspoon?”

A third user said, “Y’all look and could pass as twins” while another posted, “Pic three is literally your younger self by your current self! Wow! 😍”

“I always thought she looked just like you and she does but she also has her in indescribable beauty. Definitely best of both parents,” another user wrote as others continued to flood the comments section with compliments for both mother and daughter.

It’s clear Witherspoon and her daughter share an unbreakable bond, one the proud mom has been keen to keep strong since she first fell pregnant with Ava at 22. She told Harper’s Bazaar:

"Who do I want my daughter to see? I really want to be a woman she looks up to. … I worked on it a lot.”
