We’ve seen countless artists grace “The Voice” stage over the years, and most do not disappoint. Running for more than 10 years on NBC, the reality singing competition continues to produce high-caliber talents and give opportunities to those still starting in the business.
Very frequently, some contestants would earn the favor of fans because of varying reasons aside from their sheer talent, but also their charisma, charm, and character. In most cases, some passionate fans feel so strongly about their picks that they would criticize the coaches if they picked against their favorites.
One of the show’s coaches and country music icon, Reba McEntire, discovered this when she was on the receiving end of polarizing comments from devoted fans after she eliminated a fan favorite during the Playoffs of “The Voice” Season 26.
Before that, as the competition intensified, McEntire’s team of talented performers delivered showstopping performances during the Playoffs.
Adam Bohanan performed Chris Stapleton’s “Think I’m in Love With You,” Katie O sang Lainey Wilson’s “Hang Tight Honey,” Edward Preble gave a stirring cover of Michael Buble’s “All Of Me,” Lauren-Michael Sellers sang Jelly Roll’s “I Am Not Okay,” and Danny Joseph performed the Marvin Gaye classic “I Heard It Through the Grapevine.”
Ultimately, McEntire had to make the challenging decision to choose only two artists to advance to the Live Shows. The “I'm A Survivor” hitmaker chose Bonahan and Joseph as her final two artists, a decision that garnered mixed reactions from viewers.

On Instagram, viewers expressed polarizing opinions on McEntire’s decision to send Bonahan and Joseph onto the Live Shows.
“Bye bye team Reba. It’s frustrating, I’m going to stop watching it and stop following the page,” one user commented.
“Shocking beyond belief that a Country Star would pass over one of the best young Country singers ever to take The Voice stage! Simply unbelievable! 😱,” another echoed, pointing out that she should’ve picked Sellers instead.
“Lauren could have won the voice the voice this year. Got to say there are no bad singers this year but so far the judges choices have not been great. Really disappointed ☹️,” a third person pointed out.
“Totally disagreed with Reba’s decision tonight. Others were much better. For being a country artist you didn’t even pick one. I was all for you until tonight 😞,” a fourth voiced out.
However, some understood McEntire’s decision and agreed it was a difficult decision altogether to pick only two singers from her talented roster.
“I feel for Reba here. Amazing talent. Hard to choose. I can’t say she chose average candidates and I also can’t say she left bad candidates out. Very very tough choice with so much talent in the house,” a fan said.
“There wasn’t a wrong decision all 5 incredible in their own ways,” another agreed.
“Such a hard choice! Go Team Reba!!” a fan wrote.
Others highlighted the difficult position the coaches were in.
“Honestly going from 5 to 2 was just to severe. I think 5 to 3 would have allowed one more contestant to stay on. Each coach could have selected a third contestant, let them have a sing off and let the people vote. This cut to hard for the coaches and fans,” one shared.
