‘Real Housewives’ Alum Kim Fields Remains Happily Married To Chris Morgan Long After Rumors About His Sexuality
Nov 01, 2022
Actress Kim Fields is perhaps best known for her role as Dorothy "Tootie" Ramsey in "The Facts of Life" and later as Regine Hunter in "Living Single." For decades, TV audiences everywhere knew her face and repeated her catchphrase, "We're in troouu-ble!" Her more recent projects include the 2021 Netflix series "The Upshaws" as well as season 22 of "Dancing With The Stars." She also appeared on a season of "The Real Housewives of Atlanta."
As a Real Housewife, Fields joined the cast alongside Kandi Burruss, Cynthia Bailey, Phaedra Parks, Kenya Moore and Porsha Williams, some of whom were also new to the reality series. Fan favorites and former housewives, Demetria McKinney, NeNe Leakes and Claudia Jordan had left the show prior to Fields joining, leaving a vacuum in the drama-filled universe of Georgia. This scrambling of the cast left "Real Housewives" fans questioning whether or not Fields and the other replacements would be able to carry the torch.
While it would turn out that it would be her only season on the show, Fields made a memorable run. One memorable scene in the series featured Fields defending her husband to her cast members.
The actress married her Broadway actor boyfriend Christopher Morgan in July 2007. The two had their firstborn child, Sebastian Alexander, that year. Later in 2013, Fields announced that the couple was expecting a second child. Their son, Quincy, was welcomed in 2014. Morgan shared a sweet photo of their happy little family in July 2021. Regardless, the couple has had to fend off rumors during their relationship.
Morgan spoke to E! News in 2016 and addressed the rumors that some of "The Real Housewives of Atlanta" cast kicked up about his sexuality and his marriage to Fields. During his wife's stint on the show, cast member Moore had insinuated that he was gay. During his interview, Morgan spoke to this bit of gossip, in particular, and said:
"Now, I understand, I'm a Broadway performer without a real name, as far as Hollywood goes, and when Kim and I first got together, there was all kinds of speculation about me. Was I a deadbeat? Was I broke? Was I a drug addict? Was I a homosexual?"
He continued, touching on how his relative lack of a profile perhaps fueled the fire.
"There were all kind of rumors about me because nobody knew who this guy was dating, and eventually marrying, Kim Fields."
Morgan then addressed Moore's accusations more directly. "She basically took that speculation, one aspect of it, and ran with it."
During the series, Moore told the other women: "I know y'all have heard the rumors. They call him Chrissy." Parks, who had referred to Morgan as "high-strung and sassy" then asked, "Who calls him that?" Moore was quick to answer. "The industry," she said. "For the last ten years, there have been pervasive rumors about Kim's husband."
While the women continued to joke about what they considered to be the emasculating career of a Broadway actor, co-stars Sheree Whitfield and Bailey seemed clearly quite uncomfortable with the ridiculing. However, neither woman interjected to correct their friends.

Their comments came off as not only homophobic but also contradictory given both women "paraded their gay BFFs around in seasons past as if they're an accessory no fabulous women should be without, mustn't have that much actual respect for gay men because their tasteless gossip illuminated an idea that being gay is the most embarrassing thing a man could be."
Morgan spoke about Moore's homophobic comments during his interview, where he said:
"When someone spreads lies about you, you can either go at them in a defensive manner and be seen as defensive, or you can just let a lie be a lie."
He admitted how awkward it was to address the rumors given they were screened to millions of viewers worldwide. He added, "She kind of put me in the middle with that situation ..." Indeed, the comments about Morgan did become what is remembered best even years later.
However, Morgan and Fields didn't let the rumors affect their decades-long marriage. While the family appears to be relatively private, they do include touching tributes to their boys on social media. Fields also opened up about having a surprise baby at 44, and how thrilled she was to welcome little Quincy into the world.
Morgan made a point to set the record straight during his interview, and said, "There is no one in the industry that calls me anything other than my name, especially to my face." He also added: "I've had people speculate all kinds of things … At this point, it doesn't bother me." We're glad to hear the Field-Morgan family is thriving all these years later!
