Rachel Weisz Reveals Why She Rarely Talks About Her Marriage To Her Husband Daniel Craig

Feb 15, 2023

Award-winning actress Rachel Weisz has every reason to proudly talk about her famous husband, Daniel Craig, because he is widely recognized for his iconic role as James Bond. However, the actress prefers to keep her relationship with his world-famous better half out of the headlines.

Weisz and Craig are two of Tinseltown's most notoriously private stars, preferring instead to stay out of the limelight when the interviews do not involve their work.

The actress first met Craig in 1994, when they were working on the London stage, and they were romantically involved with other people. It was not until 2010 when Weisz and Craig quietly started dating each other, and he was already playing the role of Agent 007.

The two were filming "Dream House," where they played a married couple. Producer Ehren Kruger believed that Weisz and Craig fell in love partly because of their roles in the film.

After six months of dating, the pair tied the knot in an ultra-private ceremony in New York with just a couple of friends as witnesses. Ella, Craig's daughter with ex-wife Fiona Loudon, and Henry, Weisz's son with ex-partner Darren Aronofsky, were also at the wedding.

Although the pair regularly attended red-carpet events and supported each other's projects publicly, they have managed to keep their relationship out of the public eye. Neither actors have a social media account.

Weisz, however, gave a rare glimpse of her relationship and said in a 2018 interview that she never thought she'd get married as it was not something she aspired. She hinted that the choice to exchange vows with Craig came at a happy and "mature moment."

In 2015, Weisz opened up and revealed that she's very protective of her marriage to the Bond superstar precisely because he is "too famous."

"When you're young, you tell your girlfriends everything. One of the great pleasures of not being an adolescent is that you don't have to share everything."

Weisz also said that the door must close to talking about relationships when one gets married, adding, "The audience goes, and you're in your own life."

However, she loves being known as Mrs. Craig and signs official documents, like checks and passports, with her married name. She admitted on "The Graham Norton Show" in 2015 that she owns and uses a particular car screen visor that has "Mrs. Daniel Craig" written on it.

After seven years of marriage, Weisz and Craig welcomed their first child together, a daughter they named Grace. Friends told People that this was a natural next step for the couple, who both wanted to expand their family.

Three months after giving birth, Weisz appeared on "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert" and said that their daughter looked very much like Craig. The actor, who was 51 when Grace was born, candidly admitted to Us Weekly that he's an exhausted dad after having sleepless nights because of the baby.

The actress also opened up about how normal their married life is and that while they go out on dates, like watching movies or a play, they both prefer to be at home. Aside from his acting talent, Craig is apparently quite handy in the kitchen and cooks up a storm without following a recipe because he's very creative with the ingredients.
