Prince George Learned On His Seventh Birthday That He Would Be King In The Future
Jun 25, 2021
It was announced that Prince William and Kate Middleton were expecting their first child on 3 December 2012, and the news came in early during her first pregnancy due to her hyperemesis gravidarum needing hospital treatment. Prince George was born in the Lindo Wing of St Mary's Hospital in London on July 22, 2013. The little cherub weighed 8lb 6oz and Hello Magazine reported that Kate is said to have delivered him naturally.
George has been spotted multiple times with his parents at official royal events, and the oldest of the Cambridge family has become a fan favorite. Currently, George and his sister Charlotte attend Thomas Battersea, located in south London. The private school only educates children up until the age of 13, and so George will soon be nearing the age when he will have to find a different school.
According to the Evening Standard, George is likely to attend Eton College in Windsor, England. The boarding school for boys is known for educating the elite, with alumni such as William, Prince Harry and Prince Richard, Duke of Gloucester. George certainly has a bright future ahead of him as third in line to the throne, which means that he will start preparing for this role early on.
According to royal author Robert Lacey, George was told about his future role as King of England "sometime around his seventh birthday," and that Kate and William chose an appropriate moment to tell George about his future. WHile George may have been quite young when he came to know he was to be king one day, he has a lot of support from his family.
Daily Mail reported that Lacey spoke about how William and Kate, both 39, wanted to broach the subject at a "controlled moment of their choice" in his new book, Battle Of Brothers.
Lacey also wrote, "William has not revealed to the world how and when he broke the big news to his son. Maybe one day George will tell us the story himself. But sometime around the boy's seventh birthday in the summer of 2020 it is thought that his parents went into more detail about what the little prince's life of future royal "service and duty" would particularly involve."
Lacey also touched upon the fact that "William's aim as a father, the prince stressed, was to give his son 'a normal family upbringing,' enabling the monarchy 'to stay relevant and keep up with modern times.'"
In his look, Lacey also added that William and Kate's decision to sit their firstborn son down and speak candidly at a moment that they chose reflected "William's unhappiness at the haphazard fashion in which the whole business of his royal destiny had buzzed around his head from the start."
The Daily Mail also reported that last year, royal expert Katie Nicholl claimed in 2020 that George knew that he's "very different" from his siblings because he's often "singled out" to spend time with his great-grandmother and his grandfather Charles. This treatment signaled that George "understands that he's different from" his siblings even though Kate and William do their best to treat their children as equals. The Cambridges have also made it clear that their children will not be raised to get special treatment or be spoiled, however.

Kate Middleton took her two older children out and about for a day in London, England on April 19, 2021, and she took George and Charlotte shopping at a stationery store called Smiggle at the Kings Road location in London. This visit showed that despite their royal status, George and Charlotte are very well-behaved kids.
Twitter user @lexif1980 shared some quick details about the rare sighting of the duchess and her children at Smiggle. She wrote, “I’ve always been a Kate Middleton fan... today she was in one of my stores on the King's Road with George and Charlotte, what the team told me about how she was with them and how the kids were with each other makes me like her even more!”
She added:
“I wasn’t there but she talked to my team, the kids had a budget that they stuck to and paid for their own things with their own money. Just normal well brought up children and a normal parent trying to do the right thing and that’s just lovely!”
Most recently, George was spotted with his dad and sister. On Father's Day 2021, William kicked off a half marathon that took place on the queen's Sandringham Estate in Sandringham, Norfolk. He not only addressed the runners before the race began but he also did the countdown — with the help of his two eldest children, George and Charlotte. One runner from the day was lucky enough to capture the moment in a video, which he shared to his Instagram channel, @the_mr_mike. Fans commented on his post about how tall the children had gotten and how well behaved they were.
