Pierce Brosnan & Keely Shaye Smith Share Rare Family Photo With Son Paris In Honor Of His College Graduation
May 17, 2023
Pierce Brosnan might be the most charming man alive, but his two sons are great runners-up to that title. Not only did they inherit their dad's angelic good looks but also his humility, grace and wisdom, among many other traits.
Pierce is an Irish actor most known for his role as secret agent James Bond in four of the spy films, including "Golden Eye," "Tomorrow Never Dies," "The World Is Not Enough" and "Die Another Day." It was in the romance-musical "Mamma Mia!" that audiences were first introduced to a more playful side of the actor. He returned for the sequel "Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again" in 2018.
Apart from being an actor, Pierce is also a family man. He wed his first wife, Cassandra Harris, to whom he was married for 11 years. She had two children with her deceased husband — Chris and Charlotte — whom Pierce adopted. The couple had their first child together, Sean, in 1983. Sadly, Harris passed away in 1991 after a four-year battle with ovarian cancer, and 22 years later, the couple's daughter Charlotte succumbed to the same fate.
In 1994, Pierce met Keely Shaye Smith, an American journalist, who went on to be his loving wife. The couple has two sons, Dylan and Paris Brosnan, and married in 2001 in Ireland.
Since then, their handsome sons have become subjects of media attention due to how blessed they are with the genetics of the dashing and talented actor – both things they inherited from their father, Pierce.
Paris, the youngest among the two, was dubbed by many as an exact replica of his dashing father. Read on to learn more about Paris and his relationship with his father.
Interestingly, many children of celebrities in Hollywood either follow in their parent's footsteps into the limelight or could not care less about the glamor and glitz stardom brings. Paris, the youngest of the two Brosnan boys, is more laid back and is living the simple life of someone who has an A-list celebrity father.
"Growing up, I was always proud that he was my dad. I didn't want to hide it, but I wouldn't tell everyone," he told the Inquirer.
He also went on to reveal that his dad had strongly urged him and his brother against pursuing a career in acting and instead to look for other creative ways to express themselves through art.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, in 2019, Paris was studying at the School of Film and Television at Loyola Marymount University. But occasionally, he had moved back and forth from California to Hawaii, where their family home is based.
Aside from inheriting his show-stopping good looks from his father, Paris was also blessed with his father's incredible wardrobe.
"I steal clothes all the time. He does it so effortlessly. And he's very comfortable, he doesn't have to try at all. He'll see me wearing something and he'll be like, 'I used to have a jacket like that!' And I'll be like, 'Well, it looks better on me now,'" he cheekily revealed to People Magazine.
Their resemblance is uncanny. Many of Pierce's fans were surprised to see Paris in a striking image of his father at the Golden Globe Awards in 2020.

Like his father, Paris was also devoted to philanthropy. He had previously worked with FEED in Sri Lanka, where he directed a short film to document the vital work The World Food Programme does to feed hungry communities in Asia.
In the documentary video, Paris met with various children and their families to shed light on how the organization is helping those in need around the world. Paris' interest in helping others is clearly evidenced in the documentary, and it's clear he's more than willing to use the privilege he was born into for good.
Paris and Dylan were also recognized in People's Sexiest Man Alive 2022 issue. In an interview with the magazine, they were honest in recognizing the benefits of having a decorated celebrity and actor like their father, Pierce.
"I think we need to just be grateful for our blessings. It's always gonna be there, and we got to recognize it. At the end of the day, we're just grateful to be here," they shared.
In 2021, Paris worked as a production assistant on the set of "Black Adam," a movie in which his father, Pierce, played a superhero for the first time.
In a talk with People Magazine, Paris revealed that seeing his father work up close gave him the opportunity to learn more about his work ethic.
"You can't put half effort into something like that. You have to go all in. I think having Dad help us, it'd be a little intimidating, but he's also the best coach we could ask for if he wanted to do it!" he told the magazine.
In a joint People interview with Paris and Dylan, the latter recalled a memory of their father from when they were young boys.
"One of the distinct memories I have is being on the set of James Bond," Dylan said. "There was a big car scene where they blow up all these cars. He always likes to tell the story of how he did this whole long sequence and then he asked how he did to me. I asked him if the cars were going to be okay! But we're very lucky to be able to travel and see the world — and just be around him."
It's clear the famous sons have nothing but love and admiration for their dad. However, Paris told the publication that when it comes to showing who's boss, there's no denying who is the parent in the relationship.
"I mean, he's an actor, so he can get medieval real quick as he would say," Paris said. "We keep it pretty mellow. But he could put on an energy that was a force to be reckoned with!"
The brothers added, "We have the best parents you could ask for," while Paris said Pierce "was psyched for us," about appearing in the issue. "He said, 'Go out there and be bold!'"
Undoubtedly, Paris' parents have given him and his brother the utmost support to go out there and find themselves in the most open, uplifting way possible. He said in another interview:
"Dylan's an amazing musician and I'm painting right now, so we're figuring it out. Taking it day by day."
In a true show of support, Pierce and his wife showed themselves to be incredibly proud parents to their youngest son, as Paris graduated from Loyola Marymount University School of Film & Television in May 2023. That month, the James Bond star shared a glowing family photo of himself and Shaye Smith alongside Paris, who was decked out in graduation robes. Pierce wrote alongside the photo:
"Dearest Paris, Heartfelt congratulations on your graduation from Loyola Marymount University School of Film & Television. Go into the world with a brave heart and create stories that will make the world a better place."
Shaye Smith shared another photo from the same day with the caption:
"CONGRATULATIONS @paris.brosnan on your graduation from Loyola Marymount University School of Film & Television. We are beyond proud of you and the incredible passion and talent you possess. Go forth and do good things. A man becomes what he dreams… dream well. 🎓Love, Mom & Dad 🎬 To watch Paris’ short documentary films now Google Paris X FEED."
Both Pierce and Shaye Smith's messages reference the positive work Paris has done so far, in which he's merged his passion for filmmaking with philanthropy. Considering he's already put himself out there at the tender age of 22 and started his career, even before he graduated from university, there's no stopping what he might do next.
Meanwhile, the proud son shared another image from the day to his own Instagram account with the caption, "the graduate." His proud mom commented on her son's post with the simple words, "CONGRATULATIONS PARIS! 🎓."
