Apr 27, 2021
Hollywood hunk Paul Rudd has a number of accolades attached to his name. Some of his attributes include being a well-acclaimed actor, a producer and a screenwriter. One of his biggest accomplishments, though, is his talent of never-aging. The star has looked almost the same throughout the entirety of his career. When pictures of the actor are put side-by-side, it’s hard to tell which version is older and which is younger. Rudd seems to have some competition for his charmingly good looks with his own son, Jack Sullivan Rudd. Jack can be considered Rudd’s doppelganger due to how similar the two have grown to look.
Not too much is known about Rudd’s handsome son or Rudd’s daughter for that matter. Rudd himself grew up in a mix of places and dealt with some bullying due to the difference between his parents and other children’s parents. This may be a factor in why he has tried so hard to keep his private life, and especially the lives of his children, under wraps.
Rudd has been seen in a number of different movies and television shows, as well as some time on the Broadway stage. It wouldn't be a surprise to see the star at a sporting event either, due to his love for various games and the bonding experience he is able to have with his son at the events. The pair appear to have a beautiful bond together from the few moments shared with the public. One thing that is certain is that Jack has already begun growing up to be just as charming and good-looking as his famous father.
Rudd was born April 6, 1969, in Passaic, New Jersey. His parents, however, were born in England, just outside of London. Rudd didn’t acquire their notorious accents, but he did get to live in a variety of places due to their jobs. The family spent a couple of years in Anaheim, California, as well as Lenexa, Kansas, which is where Rudd went to high school before graduating in 1987. He went on to study theater at the University of Kansas, with the main campus being located in Lawrence, and the rest of the buildings being scattered across the downtown metropolitan area. Rudd furthered his education by attending the American Academy of Dramatic Arts alongside other future famous actors.
Rudd made his acting debut with the television drama series “Sisters” in 1992. He worked as a main character on the show for a few years before leaving to star in the hit 1995 film “Clueless.” Rudd got his big break from the movie, starring alongside Alicia Silverstone. The pair had a romantic connection on-screen, being one of the first moments audiences got to see Rudd as the cute, sweet boyfriend. The movie has since become a classic when it comes to teen comedies.
After his appearance in “Clueless,” Rudd’s career seemed to take off. He worked on a number of films and television shows throughout the late 1990s before hitting another peak in the early 2000s. The actor landed himself a guest role on the popular sitcom “Friends,” playing the nice, quirky boyfriend to Lisa Kudrow’s character. Rudd became a hit and worked on the series over the course of two years.

An Actor With Many Talents
Rudd quickly found another great career opportunity and landed a huge role with “Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy” in 2004. It marked the start of his work alongside fellow film director and producer Judd Apatow. Rudd went on to work with Apatow in a few other projects, including the comedy films “The 40-Year-Old Virgin” in 2005 and “Knocked Up” in 2007.
Another one of Rudd’s most famous television works comes from his time on “Parks and Recreation,” but this time starring as the main character’s competing enemy. Although Rudd’s role was a bit different from what sitcom fans may have been used to seeing him as, he still carried out hilariously and effortlessly. He took another step in his career by putting on his producing hat when he joined the team for the Netflix comedy series “Living with Yourself.” Rudd was cast in the show, as well as working as an executive producer for the series in 2019.
Rudd’s talents weren’t only directed to comedies. He starred in a variety of genres, including drama and action, with some of his other work being credited in “The Perks of Being a Wallflower” in 2012 and his induction into the Marvel Universe with his role as the superhero Ant-Man in 2015. His welcome into the Marvel family started with his leading role in “Ant-Man,” followed by a list of movies dedicated to the small hero, as well as movies pertaining to other superheroes. Rudd was first introduced alongside the other action stars in “Captain America: Civil War,” which was released in 2016.
Acting And Activism
Rudd also had a history with Broadway. He appeared on stage for the first time in 1997 and continued working as a Broadway actor periodically throughout his busy film and television career. His most recent Broadway performance was in 2012 with the production of “Grace” at the Cort Theatre in New York.
Working as an actor hasn’t been Rudd’s only goal throughout his incredibly successful career. He is also a supporter of the Stuttering Association for the Young, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping young people who stutter. The organization’s website described their work as “support, advocacy and life-changing experiences for young people who stutter.” According to a Vanity Fair article from October 2012, Rudd found the organization while doing research for a play where his character had a stutter.
“I think playing a character who had a really bad stutter, I kind of, for the first time, really approached this affliction from the point of view of somebody who suffers from it,” Rudd said. His advocacy continued even after his time working on the play ended. He spent more time thinking about what it’s like being a child growing up with a stutter and what life must be like for them.
“I started thinking how hard it is to be a kid anyway, how hard it is to kind of talk with anybody, regardless of how old you are, but then to have a stutter, and have to contend with bullies, and, you know, just general confidence and security, that is also shaky when you’re growing up,” Rudd explained. He continued his work with the Stuttering Association for the Young, hosting the organization’s sixth annual All-Star Bowling Benefit in January 2018.
From School Days To Success
Rudd reflected on his own experiences dealing with bullies when he was a kid. “I moved around to so many places when I was little,” Rudd started his story. “Up until the age of 10, I had lived in three different states, I had gone to many different schools, and so I was always trying to acclimate into new scenarios and settings, and I got teased for certain things.” Luckily, Rudd found a way to deal with the teasing by finding humor out of the situations and being seen as a funny guy. “That was probably my defense mechanism,” Rudd said. “Still is.”
Rudd has left a positive impact on the acting industry, as well as plenty of fans, friends and peers. He received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in July 2015 notably for his work in motion pictures. According to Forbes, Rudd’s career allowed him to acquire quite a handful of cash, making him a top-earning actor. He was ranked No. 83 on Forbes’ Celebrity 100 List of 2019. His work in the Marvel Universe, especially with his roles in “Ant-Man” and “Avenger’s Endgame.” According to Forbes, “Rudd’s deals in the Marvel Universe include a percentage of profit, meaning he made eight figures from both.”
Rudd has revealed a lot about himself through various interviews, including some details about his personal life. He has managed to keep plenty of details about his personal life private for the most part, revealing pieces here and there along the way.
Family History
He met his wife Julie Yaeger in 1995, shortly after working on “Clueless.” They met in his publicist’s office, which is where Yaeger happened to be working at the time. Yaeger has been credited as a unit publicist on a handful of films, as well as also making her name as a producer and writer on a few others. Rudd and Yaeger got married in 2003 and have one son and one daughter together, named Jack Sullivan Rudd and Darby Rudd. The family currently resides in Rhinebeck, New York.
During an interview with The Guardian in July 2015, talked more about growing up, his life as an actor and what it’s like being a father. The interview took place in a hotel in London, taking Rudd back to his parents’ roots. “I’ve always felt genuinely at home here, just from the little things,” he said about the city. “As a kid, I was elated I could get all the chocolates I never could get back in the States. The world is small when you’re small, so that was huge,” he said.
His parents had always been a big supporter of his career, from his start in the drama club at high school up to where he is now. Rudd even credits them with kick-starting his career, in a sense at least. “Actors talk about a love of craft and contributing to artistic welfare,” he explained. “But, really, I think (the desire to act) came for me from wanting more attention from my parents.”
Taking Time To Reflect
Rudd has since had quite a long and stable career. He reflected more on the projects he’s done over the years, starting with “Clueless.” “Honestly, I’m just happy to be involved with something that struck a chord with as many people as it did,” Rudd said about the now extremely popular comedy movie.
His time working on sitcoms was pretty impressive and important for his career as a longtime actor. His role with “Friends” during 2002 through 2004 was critical since it allowed him to be seen by a large audience from the show’s then-booming popularity. “The process [of making a sitcom seemed really foreign to me, so it’s kind of a strange memory for me,” he said.
Rudd credited his roles on the big screen as the catalyst for his career. “So as far as having an impact on my career, it was really with ‘Anchorman’ and then ‘The 40-Year-Old Virgin’ where I took a left turn,” he explained. He also talked about how being in “Ant-Man” might have seemed weird to some people since he wasn’t the typical macho guy, but justified it by explaining how the character didn’t call for someone like that.
The film brought him into a new world as a superhero and was also a personal milestone for Rudd and his son. “This is the first film of mine that he’s seen and it makes me proud and nervous at the same time,” Rudd said. “I took him to the premiere, he’d never been to a premiere, and that was a very moving experience for me. The best thing about anything is sharing it with your kid.”
Meet Jack Sullivan Rudd
Starring alongside other great actors like Chris Evans and Scarlett Johansson in the comic-book universe brought to life didn’t seem to be enough for Rudd’s son. Being raised in Kansas, Rudd is known for being a fan of a variety of the state’s sports teams, including the Kansas City Chiefs. He has since passed his love for the team down to his teenage son, Jack. “If I could now get a job playing with the Kansas City Chiefs or Man City, then I’d be really cool to him,” Rudd said about his son’s current love for sports.
Jack has been photographed with his father at a number of events, including Super Bowl LIV in 2020. The pair looked incredibly similar as they cheered on their favorite football team. Although both of his parents have had their fair share of time in the spotlight and working with other famous people, Jack has managed to keep his life pretty private. The teenager at the moment does not have any social media accounts, a rarity for the current growing generation. He has also not participated in any type of professional entertainment events, aside from going to premieres and games with Rudd.
Jack has stayed focused on his education, and currently has no professional career. Rudd got into acting by wanting attention from his parents, so it will be interesting to see if his son follows in his footsteps. For the time being, it seems like Jack is having fun just being a normal teenager.
