Passenger Amazed Everyone As He Watched A Movie On Airplane’s Overhead Cabin Using A Portable Projector

Flying has always been a challenging ordeal for many people. While many enjoy being cradled by an aircraft hundreds of miles above the ground, some are just braving the journey so they can get there on time. Among the many ordeals passengers have to withstand are unruly children, pungent foods, obnoxious passengers, and even unreasonable flight attendants. While airlines work hard to make every journey free from inconvenience and stress, there are some instances wherein passengers would find themselves in puzzling situations. 

In one instance, a user was surprised to see that his flight turned into a drive-in cinema hundred miles up in the air. ABC7 reported that an airline passenger brought a portable projector into the aircraft. 

Passenger Douglas Lazic-Kirk captured the whole encounter via cellphone. The passenger used his cellphone to connect to the projector and flashed a whole feature film on the adjacent overhead cabin. 

Playing the 2000 hit American epic historical war film “The Patriot" starring Mel Gibson and Heath Ledger, the passenger even graciously had subtitles on his movie marathon, making sure that everyone on board could watch and understand the film. 

It was not reported whether the whole thing was taken down by flight attendants, as it was neither said nor shared if the sounds of the movie were blasted throughout the whole craft. 

"I've flown on more than 800 flights to 147 countries and never seen anything like it," Lazic-Kirk shared with the outlet. He also revealed that the said passenger purchased an entire row of three seats to himself and "put it on to watch."

Flying can be boring or unamusing for some passengers, which is why some people bring their own laptops to watch movies; others listen to a playlist to get by on the flight, while some try to get by in their own ways. 

Based on the ABC7 report, the passenger took matters into their own hands as in-flight entertainment was not offered on the flight. As the video was posted on YouTube, people were quick to comment on the surprising airplane encounter.

“That Is A MUCH Better Class Of Airline Passenger Than The Ones Who Usually Make The News Headlines While Being Arrested & Expelled From The Plane By Police & The Pilot,” a user shared. 

“Better than a throw down brawl on the plane lol,” someone commented. 

“There is no end to what people will think of!” one pointed out.

Some users lauded the passenger for the ingenious idea of projecting the movie up on the cabin, even calling to give him a Nobel Peace Prize for such invention and creative thinking. Others also approved of the brilliant movie choice, echoing the accolades that the movie received back then. 

“The Patriot” received an Academy Award nomination for Best Cinematography, Best Original Score, and Best Sound. 

However, one user seemed to be appalled with the encounter and had this to say: “If That Was Blk Person They Would Have Put Him Off The Flight. But This How Theses People Can Get Away With Everything SmDh.”

Whether the portable cinema was taken down or not, the whole ordeal surely impacted other passengers who were taking the time to rest and recharge before they landed at their respective destinations.
